Ascents as Lead by Scott Godwin

Really good. Got a bit sketched clipping the bolt at the crux and held the draw momentarily, otherwise clean. Pretty intense moves at the crux. Could have been trad in the bottom half.

In the dark with Jared. Cold.

Onsight for the classic second pitch, which felt soft for 20. Maybe 18? Rapped and did Hickory Wind, then finished up the unpleasant exit pitch, which felt burly and scary with only one big cam. 2x 4s and 5 wouldn't go astray.

Pretty tired at the end of the day. Held a draw to clip on the upper slab.

Nice and long. Pumpy at the top. Held the last draw to clip. Didn't like the look of big loose jug beside the bolt.

A fantastic pitch which I climbed in less than fantastic style. It was freezing cold, and I launched up this with no warmup. I was overcome with numb fingers and flash pump just past the old carrot. Lowered off, went for a walk and sat in the sun for a while to warm up my frozen hands, then tied back in and finished it clean yo-yo style.

With Austen. Not great, but not terrible either.

Climbed first pitch to the top of the pillar with the devious intention of swinging across to the second pitch of Rigudon, but Laura did something to her shoulder so we bailed. Still an awesome pitch.

Yoyo style, sort of. Fell off at the third bolt, lowered to the ground, left the draws clipped in the interests of time, then climbed clean to the top.

Again to retrieve the stuck rope.

Laps.

Seconded Laura on the first pitch, then I led the horrible sandbag fist crack chimney thing and finished up the airy boulder. Pretty exciting mantling the last bit about 3 m above the gear. Getting down is a bit of a hassle. A couple of rap bolts at the top might be a good idea.

There was a party on Ramadan when we arrived so we jumped on this first. Climbed as one long pitch to the top of the pillar. Definitely the way to go.

A fun day out on an extremely windy day. I lead all pitches. The route wanders a bit and route finding was tricky at times. Pulled on a few pieces on the last pitch in the interest of time as the day was getting on and the weather was coming in. A #5 cam is handy in a few places.

Climbed to retrieve the gear after Laura lowered from the crux.

Led yo-yo style to Cam's high point then finished as one long pitch to the top. Nice climbing on some less than perfect rock. Deserves a star in my books. Didn't get to climb anything else this trip. Too busy with bush bashing shenanigans. I'll come back.

With Laura. Classic adventure climbing. Mostly good rock and good gear. Pulled on a couple of pieces on p2. Thunder started at about p3. Got to the rap chains at the top of the Kor-Ingalls route and should have rapped straight away, but I really wanted to stand on the summit. Thought I had time for a quick look before the storm got there. As soon as I stood up I got zapped on the nose and decided it was time to get the hell out of there.

With Andrew and Cat. Excellent route with good protection. I lead both pitches. Clean all the way to the roof on the first pitch, then tried to climb through the corner facing in the wrong direction and missed the good holds. In the end I pulled on a cam Second pitch clean the whole way. The bolt at the top was unnecessary, but I'm a wus so I clipped it anyway.

With Laura. Squeezing in a quick climb before work. This one is always fun. Dodgy shoulder seemed to hold up ok.

Really nice jug hauling, but my two months of not climbing has taken its toll. Got really pumped and held one of the draws while clipping, so I can't claim the onsight.

Pretty scary. Maybe I was on the wrong line, but I found hardly any gear.

Got stuck at the little rooflet thing near the top on the onsight attempt. Got it clean second time on toprope.

Nicer than in it looks. Got tangled up on confusing holds and fell just above the third bolt, then clean to top.

With Graham. Not very good.

Grovelled up the direct start for a change of scenery. It wasn't fun at all. But I'll probably do it again next time. The rest was beautiful as always.
