A contender for the worst route I’ve ever done. Wet, dirty, minging hard crux right off the ground, then an awkward ramble. Had to do it though, as it’s one of the few grade 24+ routes at Britten than remained to be ticked. Not recommended for any other purpose!

For Britten, I reckon this route is a classic at the grade. Consistently interesting and good rock quality. Only problem was the profligate ticking of holds. Since I only used 25% of them, I’m still claiming the onsight. Buy a brush people, and bloody use it!

Had no expectations of making any progress on this route today, given that the top looked sopping wet from the ground. As it turned out, all of the key holds were dry(ish). I was able to climb clean through the crux every go after the onsight attempt, but pumped out twice at the top on the heinous white lichen. Just managed to squeak in a send by head torch as twilight fell and a full moon rose. Epic!

Fun boulder problem start quickly deteriorates to utter choss, which then leads to a thin crux on comparatively good rock that is barely independent of Sacrificial Leg. Worth doing, once.

Finally! Figured out a much easier way to round the bulge, making it a legit 25 rather than the grade 27-28 beta I was trying. I’m fully ashamed to admit that I spent more time on this route than much harder climbs, but at least it’s done!
