Questões de acesso herdado de Mt Alexander

PLEASE READ IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME TO MT ALEXANDER

Most of Mt Alexander is a regional (not national) park, so while climbing is permitted general rules apply; dogs are permitted on leash, fires only in established fire places (from Parks Victoria website).

Being able to climb at Mt Alexander is a privilege and climbers need to act accordingly; especially given the increased amount of climbers frequenting the area due to Grampians closures. Please do not drop litter (e.g. fingertape) - in fact, if you can, remove any litter you see when you leave. Please keep to existing trails where you can. Do not engage in overzealous cleaning of climbs - keep it to the minimum. Don't harm any trees. Be courteous to fellow users of the park.

Toilets are available at the Leanganook campground and at the mountain bike park near the Oak Forest (close to Harcourt). Should you need to defecate please do so in accordance with established practices for wilderness behaviour (e.g. stay away from water courses, digging a hole etc).

Please see individual access notes for each area.

Up the thin wall.

Sit-start way at the back of the roof on the right, and climb out through the tight gap and then up the face. Don't lean on the sidewall of the adjacent boulder. Might be closer to V8..... pumpy.

Around right from diamond roof is a nice wall. Green shield climbs the left side on nice holds. Can be a bit green.

Start right of GS at layaway/gaston edges just before the shallow dihedral. Fantastic line of edges to a neat duo before the angle eases and the holds run out. Not tough at the grade but requires technique and a bit of mental tenacity up high. Am early attempt involved a desperate lunge at the now broken tree. Gulp.

On the slab at the northern border of the diamond boulders. Low start on LH layaway and big edge to trend up the middle of the slab via some neat slimps.

On the slab at the northern border of the diamond boulders. Low start on LH layaway and big edge to trend up the middle of the slab via some neat slimps.

Sit start at arete right of TPP and cruise up edges on right side of slab.

On the Rhomboid boulder, 30m in from The Diamond Roof. Stand start on the north-west nose of the boulder with RH crimp and LH sloper. Big throw around left to jug and head up.

Can be started from bit lower on undercuts - a bit harder.

FA: Mike Hitchcock, 2015

Three metres right of Conflict Diamond. Stand start with a high right foot and tiny holds.

FA: Mike Hitchcock, 2015

Small face holds and obvious high right foot rail. Arete out. If this is where C went then it's pretty soft. I started that with high right nubbin foot a metre further left.

Climb the arete. Super but easy.

On the eastern side of the Rhomboid boulder (on the opposite side of Conflict Diamond). Climb up and mantle the vibrating flake.

FA: Mike Hitchcock, 2015

On the north side of Rhomboid boulder (4m left of Conflict Diamond). Stand start and climb the featured, balancey face.

FA: Rob Cotton, 2015

Face with twin diagonals between CG and CD. Easier than it looks.
