Descrição

The large slabby boulder sitting towards the southern end of Navarro Beach. As the "tide line" running horizontally around the boulder shows, the sand level can move up and down 6 feet or more - at times of high sand the boulder is barely worth climbing on, while at low sand it can get quite highball.

For the most part the problems are easy (VB or easier), but the rock is reasonably solid and the landings usually sandy and soft (though driftwood can collect around the boulder). While definitely not a destination, it's a very picturesque place to cruise about on some nice stone if you're in the area.

For those who don't like highballing, there is a huge, rusty boat anchoring contraption on top that could probably be used as a top rope anchor. It's a fair way back from the edge though, so bring long slings or a second rope.

Acesso

Park in the Navarro Beach parking lot (can be exceptionally busy - best to arrive early), then head left down the beach. The boulder is unmistakable.

Thin slab left of the crack.

Obvious crack.

Over the little bulge right of the crack.

4th class slab just left of the arete. Be gentle with the tafoni - it's snappy.

Sit start just right of the arete. Hard move or two on nice textured slopers / pinches, then jugs to the top. Could probably make up some harder variants / eliminates here.

Traverse the boulder left to right. Could be harder to the right of 'South Face', but that wall is currently (2017) very unpleasant to climb on due to fires having been lit underneath it.
