Description

A beautiful boulder resting on a shelf between two slabs with a few hard, overhung lines.

Limit. de l'accès hérité de Jawbone Creek Track-side Boulders

The road in to Jawbone Carpark can be quite bumpy and is prone to trees falling down across the road, but the road isn't that bad - still very manageable in a 2WD. The Jawbone Creek track has a grade of 4 which means, bush-walking experience recommended as tracks may be rough and steep. Once you get to the boulder area there are several boulders that are close but many more that take a little exploration.

Approche

Accessible from Jawbone Creek Walking Trail - cut off trail at the sight of the first trackside boulders. Zig along the cliff/slab line right until there is a zag back left up to a short slab scramble. Boulder is on the right, adjacent to the boulder that resembles a duck.

Historique

Graphique de l'historique des voies

Initially found and worked in the 2000s, this boulder has seen recent activity due to it's proximity to Melbourne and the great rock quality.

Stand start on the obvious rail. Work your way up and to the crimp out left to a tricky finish.

Sit start in the hueco down low. Work your way along the rail in the cave into Slippery Nipple Stand. Area Classic.

Start in the scoop same as Slippery Nipple. Work your way up and to the right to finish on the right side of prow.

FA: Nic jones

Start same as Slippery Nipple and MFWU, climb straight up prow. Only move to arete after gaining the highest crimp in the seam, bit contrived but adds some good climbing.

FA done from low undercling, likely doesn't add a grade to any of the exits but does add some good moves.

Start in the hole matched on the crimp rail, head up and out before mantling.

Sit start under rooflet with pocket and crimp, use slopey holds to climb the crack and try not to fall off the edge.
