★ Septic Shock
The lone veil of ice just north of the 407 Highway. The route only freezes and touches down during exceptionally cold winters. When it does freeze, however, a dead vertical sheet of yellowish-white ice forms against the shale wall of the valley. The Southeast face of the ice is of much higher quality than the Northeast facing section. Belayers should take extra caution as the surrounding shale walls are prone to crumbling. The route is best accessed from the end of Burnhamthorpe Road off of Bronte Road then following the fence-line to the valley's edge. Top rope access requires slinging trees in the gully followed by an awkward rappel. |
