1.8. Padang Padang Beach 33 routes in Crag

Summary:
La plupart Bloc

Lat / Long: -8.811484, 115.103435

description

Best boulders in Bali! Good quality limestone and some rock reef. All boulders are doable on the sand without crash bad. All kind of holds and jugs! Rebolted by Bryan titanium glued bolts.

Bolted routes towards the left section of the cliff 8-12m high. Plenty of bouldering all along the crag, which leads out towards the right. Lot of traversing with soft sand beneath for a safe landing. Better to climb at low tide otherwise you'll end up with wet feet, and soggy pumps.

Short, limestone wall with several vertical to overhanging routes. Rock can be wet and/or sandy, bolts are not top quality, and routes are mostly short, but challenging. Can also do some decent bouldering on this wall and some boulders in the area.

Video. Video.

Limitations de l'accès

Pay entrance fee to Padang beach.

approche

Crag can be seen from the tall bridge of Jalan Labuhan Sait (road near Uluwatu). Looking down to the beach and the surfers, the crag is on the left hand side; a large orange wall overhanging the beach impossible to miss. Park at the carpark on the road and make your way by foot using the narrow staircase carved out from inbetween a large crack in the rock on the opposite side of the beach.

Head towards Uluwatu from Denpasar or Kuta. Continue past the town of Pecatu and ask for Padang-Padang Beach. You can plug the GPS coordinates into Google Maps and it will also give you directions. You will cross a bridge that looks down over the beach, and there will be parking on the right hand side after the bridge. Go down the steps to the beach and the crag will be the obvious orange limestone wall on the left. Looks for the bolts.

1.21. Eiger Flagship Store 0 routes in Gym

description

The Eiger Flagship Store also has a large outdoor climbing wall, similar to the Badung Climbing Gym. When I went, it was absolutely deserted (probably because it sits out in the boiling heat every single day). Inside the Eiger store you’ll find a lot of hiking camping gear and the bouldering wall is located upstairs. Again, there were absolutely no people when I went ( about 2pm on a Tuesday ).

It costs 50,000 IDR for a 2 hour session. Just go to the front desk on the ground floor and ask to climb upstairs. It’s a very basic setup and the routes are nothing fancy. The wall is about 25+ metres wide and about 2.5 metres high. There are only about 3–5 established routes, which traverse back and forth along the wall.

You could easily create your own routes and have a bit of fun, which would be cool if you were with a group of friends. Otherwise, it’s really just a simple wall to have a good endurance session.

1.23. Bali Climbing Bouldering Gym Canggu 0 routes in Gym

description

This place is a tiny hole-in-the-wall kinda place. It’s relatively new to the scene and the first of it’s kind in Canggu. It’s really just a few bouldering walls and there aren’t many routes on the wall, but there are plenty of holds to experiment with. It’s the perfect kind of place to train as they’ve got everything you need for a good session.

The Bali Climbing website is surprisingly legit, given the fact that the place is so small. They have a solid setup but it really is just a small garage’s worth of walls. I wasn’t aware that they offered so much when I went there, but if you’re looking for some private coaching or guidance climbing outdoors then they might be able to help. Perhaps if it gets some traction and popularity then it might offer outdoor trips on a regular basis. At the moment the price for an outdoor excursion is 1, 250, 000 with a minimum of two people. The main walls

Entrance for a 2 hour pass will set you back 150, 000 IDR. That’s a bit steep in my mind, especially for Bali. They do offer “happy hour” prices from 11am to 2pm for 100, 000 IDR, but it gets seriously hot in the middle of the day.

this place is favorite in Bali , these cool place and close in Ubud, but few months this place got accident, hopefully gonna open soon!!

description

This bouldering gym has a TON of potential. It’s a decent sized space with an upstairs section under construction and projected to be ready by Jan 2018. Until the gym opens properly in early 2018, the cost of entry is purely based on donations.

The downstairs area has a really solid variety of climbs from vertical to overhanging, including the gnarly cave section at the back of the space. I loved the route setting style as the routes had a really nice degree of technical difficulty to them. If you get chatting with the owners then you most likely would be able to help create a route or two if that’s what you’re into.

They are looking to get in a large batch of climbing shoes for hire as well. Once the place opens for good then you can expect an entry fee. This place is definitely worth checking out!
