Leave technique at home on this burly, strenuous, steep wide-ish crack. Great gear, but some loose rock. Quite painful jamming, but I've paid my blood debt to the rock gods on this climb.

Brilliantly bold, committing climbing. Might even be E3.for the first 8m of climbing to the first bit of pro, and then only average protection to protect the entire climb including the crux. Climbing out over the pool is awesome (my climbing partners were waiting to see if I'd zipper all the way into the water), and the crux moves are technical. One of my best leads here in the UK.

Of the two E1 finger cracks on this wall, I think this was the best, though Jenga disagrees. Less straightforward than its partner, more technical and fiddlier gear, this was my tick of the day. I recommend bringing C3s for this beauty.

Classic grit bold (read: death) face climbing. Stemming out of the corner into a cutloose move is awesome, then thin face climbing around the arête and to the middle of the wall with no protection gets the heart going. When protection does arrive, 2/3rds of the route is over. Great, thin, moderately technical committing climbing.

Phenomenal roof climb; heel hooks and a bit of upper arm strength is helpful. The initial slab already bears the marks of (probably?) thousands of contestants, but is still easy enough without protection. The roof itself is protected well enough (building a "safety net" as the guidebook suggests), so you can just commit and pull on the jugs. The hardest thing is getting into a standing position again.

This was quite an excursion! So sustained, so technical, so consistently steep. Outrageous!! The second pitch is protected almost solely by uninspiring fixed pins that you can back up with wires that range from not okay to actually pretty okay. A total head trip for me, getting used to the climbing style, the gear, the polish, and it’s been a while since I had any real exposure, and the second pitch on this had plenty. So stoked to have been able to sample the limestone trad when I did with climbing not seeming like much of an option for the immediate future.
