Ascensões em Gibraltar Peak

Start very mossy and greasy, becoming pleasant after the first 3 meters. Optional big cam high on P1 but better to do it all in one big sports pitch (we did) and skip carrying up the trad rack. Top involves a long traverse (or walk) left to the anchors. Rap from Fouled Up Turkey anchors back to the ground is 28 meters.

Scrubbed all the holds with a wire brush on the way down. Some of the lower down flakes are very creaky. Not a route to fall off leading...

Felt much better about the step across after I stick-clipped the second bolt. Take small-to-medium nuts for anchor or turn it into a full sport route by continuing up P2 of Juveniles.

Had more important things on my mind... Luckily she said yes!

Attempted this after jw led it, but not sure that made it any easier; from the point where I detached from the bolts at the start, it was pretty much a 10m slab walk that got increasingly steep/mossy towards the edge; and even though I was technically on the rope, given the bolt was across the chasm and how much length we had out, it wouldn't have been a fun fall.

Eventually worked my way down towards the edge, and while I could see a little ledge below the main slab that probably would have got me a little closer, I just couldn't trust my feet enough/get over the fear to actually attempt crossing it. After a fair while trying to push myself for it, I just ended up giving up as my legs/feet were killing me.

We had to rig a different anchor and then I climbed out on the rope as I had no energy/motivation left to try another climb to get off.

My first multi-pitch, and a pretty cool climb!

Did this after jw lead it and placed a single tiny cam, almost irrelevant, but at least it will stop you tumbling down below the climb I suppose.

Both the start and end of this are super easy walks, but the couple of moves to get up around the bolt were surprisingly intricate/tricky. There's a few flakes of really hollow sounding rock that I just didn't want to trust, but in the end pretty much had to to get up.

Cheated a bit, weighting the rope to get down to the big chasm, feel like the climb hasn't really started yet, since that is just a downclimb... so giving myself the onsight .

To get across I climbed very low down on some small edges over the side of the cliff, and then kicked my foot backwards until I reached the wall.. very easy climbing once establisted

Only did the first pitch, climbed Fouled Up Turkey as the "second pitch" by mistake.

Climbed this thinking it was the second pitch grade 14 of Juveniles and Geriatrics, first bolt is quite high (like everything here), I should have stick clipped it... Was a very engaging lead, I moved rather slow and my toes were hurting a lot by the top...

I also climbed it with my backpack on, as if I was going to walk off the top lol

got spooked on that layback omglob. But it went after that. Direct line through the roof looks bananas. And sure that unprotected slab was easy enough, but still had a minor panic attack and beached whale myself to the top, making use of all the friction I could find. Overall, I agree with the 'crag classic' label.

glad I tr'd this in the end. Great intro to Canberra slabs which turns out don't have holds. True slabs don't have crimps.

stiff and spooky first climb of the day. But so epic and worth it. And great view of some SNOW ah mountains you are nice

Easy start, thin technical corner, and finishes with the run-out scary slab. Not bad!
