turns out if you say the phrase, 'I think this is the longest project I've ever had', right before an attempt, you are statistically more likely to to have fat crack become the next proj, and regret ever saying the aforementioned phrase

First time trying it on gear, kept stepping on the rope in the crack and got a terrible jamming pump trying to free it... think a head cold related lack of oxygen was letting me down. Placing gear in the wide bit was quite tricky as have to reach so far back.

Did it a lot better - rope out, smoother placements in the offwidth, but just not enough energy.

belay tick - Cedric battled for a while then bailed off the Bundy's been bolting anchors - seemed very hard. I've been to this crag many times now and I think I always interpreted the 'thread' as a weird homemade ring out of rebar... genuinely didn't believe it was rope until he got there

Greenpoint (ish) hang dog. Most bomber hand jams at cathedral at the start. The offwidth payback hell. Then stemming and goodby leg muscles. Classic cathedral sandbag

"had enough wide moves for the day, a hand and fist crack sounds nice". Oh boy were we wrong. First the start is a few extra grades of abominable if you're short, then there's a bit where you need a 4 and probably a 5, and seeing as I can't in any way fist jam 4s, my first ever in earnest butterfly-stack-fling-to-crimp maneuver. Anyway, the actual hand crack bits were fun. For me it's harder than Retro Crack, though I suppose the hard bits are less sustained.
