Ascensões em Mornington Peninsula

Contrived.

Surprisingly solid for a V0. Nice movement over interesting holds.

Took multiple visits to figure a sequence that would work. Pumpy fun!

Did the stand first to make sure I'd be able to top it out after getting through the bottom half. Good problem in its own right.

Took quite a few more goes to get through the burly starting moves via smooth edges and pockets from the sit.

Really not sure what to grade this. Awkward high step with a desperate pull on the 2 finger pocket. Hardest move I did today!

Really nice holds. Although right next to Jetsam, it climbs independently.

Okay. Not sure if I climbed the right start as it didn't feel like a V1 even though it was still damp.

Was in two minds logging this as I hate lowballs, but it was the only this not dripping wet when I arrived.

Lesson learnt is only go to Fingal Beach when it's a mid afternoon low tide. The boulders were all soaked and most problems only drying by early afternoon, just as the tide was coming in.

I found the move to jugs difficult, but who knows. Although the rock is spiky, the hand holds are mostly smooth.

No intermediates, so you either will reach the lip or it could be almost impossible. As you won't want to dyno to the lip!

Interesting slab avoiding the sharp rock to the left.

Various options to get to the divots on the lip, none particularly easy. Last go of the day as the sea approached.

Not as bad as described. A couple of nice moves.

Easy enough to avoid the sharper holds, so a pleasant enough warm up. Challenge would be to keep going to Atlantis...

Smooth pockets

I thought this was graded V1 so was surprised to see the grade listed afterwards... Start is awkward otherwise nice a cruisy line. Topped out for the full experience.

Best line that I climbed here. Sweet pockets.

First recorded ascent. Surely climbed already. Pleasant featured smooth slab.

Couple of powerful pulls to get going. Enjoyed this one.

Best climb here, great holds and movement. Not hard but a spooky topout, especially when alone.

Awesome. High crux on disgustingly sandy sloper and poor feet. Take plenty of time to gather your mental at the rest midway.

Great movement. First half of the climb is relatively easy. The last few moves + the top out are probably what gives this its grade.

Beautiful, highly pocketed rock. Landing is a bit sketchy though.

Led this and got my biggest cam in a good placement about 40% of the way up, which I was very happy for because immediately afterward the brick sized sturdy feeling foot hold I went for broke clean free from the face sending me whipping down.

My belayer asked me if I wanted to continue and I was like yeah I would and then as I was climbing back up to my cam, another big foot hold broke off and we decided it was retreat and go for a swim time.

So yeah warning: do not treat this like a normal climbing spot, feels like any hold could break off at any moment in a way that is also somehow unexpected, as well as these 2 I had 2 more big hand holds break off while I was scrambling on other bits of the rock. But yeah I didn't feel any flex, they didn't feel or look hollow but they just fell clean off. Climb with extreme care.

Consensus was this was very soft for a 13 which I'm inclined to agree on, the shortness potentially adds to that.

Tried in my crocs first and fell, came back with climbing shoes and got up👍
