Ascensões em Camels Hump como Retreat

This was my first outdoor sport climbing trip and my first outdoor ground fall.

I did a couple on the back ball and then hand-dogged a 20, I was feeling good.

I did not heed the advice of my mates to pre-clip the first few draws, thinking I would be able to do it. Got in the first two clips, and the start was pretty brutal.

While clipping the 3rd, I slipped and the rope got caught on my arm. Unable to drop the slack I gassed out, let go and took my first ground fall. Thankfully the rope caught at the last moment and I walked away from it with a sprain on my right ankle. It could have been far worse.

Definitely going to come back and send this route.

currently too mossy and sandy for my liking, and sun was directly in my eyes so couldnt see very much. might come back and brush it, looks like a nice line. really i just want the tick bc of the hilarious name

Climbed up to the break a couple times, but could always feel my fingers and feet ever so slowly spoodging off. which failed to inspire confidence

Wet rock made for a fun retrieval of a relatively new draw! Crux at the start, looks easy after 2nd bolt.

top roped this a year ago on my first outdoor trip, so I thought I'd be able to jump on and tick it fairly easily. all clean up until the crux. absolute shit at the top, so glassy and insecure. took a couple whips before finishing off on wishful thinking.

2nd did it clean and just pulled through the crux like a champ

Left Hand start hold is loose and flakey Preserve the rock

Totally thrown by the sequence between the second and third bolts. Bailed here.

Last one for the day. Clipped first two on the lead but retired early with bicep injury : (

In what world is that a jug? Couldn’t even establish. Humbling to get so completely shut down!

Second bolt is loose, didn’t have anything to tighten it. Looks like you could pull it out with your fingers. Recommend not climbing this until it’s fixed.

Lower ramp needs sling protection

Have heard that a hold has been broken off this, not sure where, but couldn’t figure out the sequence through the red overhang. Felt hard for the grade.

Took my first ever lead fall at exit move (could not find the right hand beyond the flake!) - fall was safe but hit the wall funny and broke my ankle But I'll be back... You better believe it.

I think I was trying Sucker Punch but the topo was a bit confusing. This seemed far harder than what I was expecting, so I do wonder if I read the topo wrong.

Bailed near the top. Jugs and slopers completely covered in moss isn't ideal for a high top out. Would be pretty fun if clean.

Feet cramped on the slab after second RB. Bailed for another try.

Thought Camel's Hump would be ok on a dry day in between two rainy days. I thought wrong. The crux finger crack was wet, slimy and horrible.

Didn't complete, but the first half is great fun. It's on the list as a personal test piece to re-visit in the future.

Sheesh! That one got me. Even with top rope, couldn't figure out a way past the crux. No patience to work on it this time.

Golly, this one defeated me! It looks scary but the pro is good. Have to come back another day.
