Ascents in Los Alamos by Jim Olsen

All of us were hanging off the rope or getting tension on the crux. Joe did the best job of climbing it.

First good performance of the year. Weather cool, threatening and deteriorating.

Took a bit to get over the crux.

I really had to work on this one. Got partway up the flare and moved right with some creative moves, then back into the route.

The bottom was the hardest.

Nice route. Variations exist.

Last bit looks really tough, but holds suddenly appear when you reach for them

Lots of different things happening in 50'. Great lieback, then balance moves to face and then faceclimb.

Contains an interesting off balance problem

I'm beginning to notice the climbs at Gallows Edge are very similar to each other.

I sent it by going over the arete edge and back. More fun this way; you notice the exposure. Fritz seconded.

Climbed a little wide left at second bolt 'cause it's a little easier that way.

Did a slight variation that turned out to be harder than the route itself.

The route is sandbagged a bit. Should be 5.9+.

Jaggedy layback. Keeps fingers cool on hot days.

Gallows Edge is not a place to climb on a hot day. I fried my fingers.

Did it three different ways. Totally fun climb.

I'm sure someone has done this before. It's really fun and funky.

Pillars is gettin' easier to do.

Wanted to lead it, but only brought some draws and tricams.

It's like being a bug climbing a hacksaw blade edge

Starts in a deep narrow chimney to the right of the Cave Routes, then squeeze out onto the face. Lotsa fun, but kinda easy.

Hot day. Few other climbers around.

Aptly named. In and out of funny chimney (need to be skinny to get out of chimney) onto face

My first lead after having foot surgery. Went well.
