Ascents in Repubblika ta’ Malta by mivi

Botanical. Not even close to a supposed 6b+

Took too long in the overhang. The kneebar is good but not that good. Didn't both going all the way up and gave it another burn with some draws placed after a longer rest.

Not hesitating and just going for it did the trick. 6c+ rating seems a bit soft.

Didn't find a beta for the crux that works for me.

Tried the crux on toprope more than year ago so not an onsight (not that I would have remembered anything). Bouldery start and one hard move in the small overhang which is easier for taller people.

Warmup

Really good first try. In retrospect kinda mad I didn't onsight it. Got myself tangled up and also hestitated too much in the upper part.

Last day (on Gozo), best day! Guess I really do like slabs By far the hardest I've ever sent (or attempted) so hard to judge. Maybe the grade is a bit soft. But too little experience to judge so I'll take it as my first 7a Certainly easier initially, then gets more technical with bad feet near the top. Crimp strength not really required (which is nice with a finger injury)

What is this 'endurance' thing you talk about? Probably could have done it had I been more rested and not messed up the start boulder...

Probably harder than 4+ when climbed directly over the last bolt.

Forgot to pinch the last crimp with the right. Also found a different (lower) foot for the next attempt.

Finally! Man those crimps are sharp. My fingertips still ache hours later.

Very nice route but felt easier. Maybe more like 6a. Increasingly difficult the higher you get. Quite technical on the slab (probably why I felt it was easier )
