Ascents of Blabbermouth as Onsight

Great day out, quality rock and nice exposure for the grade. Linked pitches 4 & 5, no gear needed after pitch 3. 21 degrees and overcast, would not go near this on a hot day.

Fun day out climbing. Climbed variant crack but ended up at sunburnt P1 anchors so rejoined blabbermouth at P2 anchors. Linked 5&6.

A nice route with good quality rock. Linked pitches 4-5 to speed things up. Top pitch was an easy solo, with exposure. A steep walk down the main walking track!

First ever trad climb

This was my first mixed multipitch route and was an excellent introduction! Overall the route is very well protected with plenty of hangers where natural gear is unavailable. A 70m single rope will allow you abseil each pitch without issue. We started climbing the variant start at around 0715 and topped out around 1045 and were back on the ground at 1145.

Pitch notes:

1. (VS) Easy climbing with good gear available at every stance.

2. The initial traverse of the belay is easy climbing and straight forward to protect. 5 fixed hangers separated by good cam placements.

3. A really fun pitch with solid gear protecting the crux and more than enough bolts either side of it.

4. Fully bolted with 6 hangers to the anchor.

5. Really cool corner straight off the belay. Slightly greater distances between bolts on this pitch are protectable with gear if you feel the need.

6. Starts steep, turns into a slabby walk about half way up. Bolts where you need them.

7. Solo to the anchor on a ledgey slab. Easier than caves route in my opinion. Small gear available on the left of the headwall if you feel you need it.

Thanks to the developers for the time, effort, and money that went into making Blabbermouth what it is: an excellent introductory mixed multipitch. It's a route I expect I'll enjoy many times, and gives me the confidence to tackle others!

Very enjoyable climb on a beautiful day! P2-P6 are very well bolted and not much gear needed. We started at 7 and got back to ground at 11h45.

Done in 3 pitches.

Great climbing on most of the pitches - especially the first three. Variant start for sure.

Awesome day out with plenty of sun/ heat despite starting at 7am. Great pro when it was required, lots of FH in the slabby sections.

Did the first two pitches of sunburnt buttress thus 18, but Nat got a bit lost on pitch 2 and it made us worried about what was to come, so we bailed up this. Didn’t really love it, but maybe we just found the unfamiliar rock hard to read. Nice to go up Mt Tibro for the first time anyway.

led 1-3 and 7. Not much gear needed at all. Full set of nuts and BD up to #2. Pitch 7 was a solo going straight up the guts, probably equivalent difficulty to caves route.

Really nice, probably my favourite multi on Tibro so far. Done with the variant start

Fun day out. Did the variant start, but the rope got tied around the chains on the last rap so rope soloed back up to free it, climbing the original start.

Fun one with the brother today got here mega late because he needed to buy shoes did 5 pitches and bailed

Led all pitches linking 4&5 and then 6&7. Variant start. Gear and climbing was good throughout.

Perfect weather, 21 and sunny. Started about 8.30 and topped out at 12.45. We went up Blabbermouth VS, and linked pitches 4 & 5. As others said, a single set of nuts + cams is fine, we took friends up to #3.

We continued to the summit and descended via the caves route.

Excellent route. One of the better ones on Tibro that I have done. Even though it is May, it still felt quite hot. Also the final pitch was a bit scary, mostly because I haven't done much soloing before...

Fun day out! Swung leads and started up Blabbermouth VS. Best way to start I reckon. Route finding overall is pretty straightforward, lots of good hardware to guide the way. P2 and P3 were the standout pitches for me. Bit runout on P2 but gear appears when you're terrified enough. Bits of hollow rock on P3 so be careful.

Final solo pitch was interesting but easy. Keep a good head and Bob's your uncle.

Rack (probably overkill): nuts, offset nuts, hexes, single rack of totems with additional #0. 1 and #3.

Fairly nondescript climbing overall. Linked P1 and P2, then lead P3, followed Matt on P4 and then linked P5 and P6. In general, there was less gear than I expected in places (based on pitch descriptions). I went the wrong way for P3, going up for two bolts then right instead of directly right from the belay; made things a bit spicy, and definitely sandbagged for Matt. Still, it's an enjoyable light adventure and was perfect for giving Matt some more multipitching experience; it was also just nice to spend the day on a cliff.

I was pleasantly surprised at this route, and also expecting fewer bolts. Overall, protects very well given the newer FHs and bomber wires in many sections. Plus, I got to teach my partner how to lead belay using a Munter hitch when she dropped her ATC!
