Ascents in Smith Rock State Park as Attempt

First climb in Smiths, what an intro to the rock here. Not sure if I like or hate finger pockets.

Need a another shot at this one.

Really enjoyed trying this route. I think it will be a very beta intensive route. Might try again.

very hard for a warm up. Flash pumped my forearms.

SPLD

Only climbed until the 5th bolt (a little bit higher). But even until there did not do all the moves really. Seems like it could be nice, but need to get stronger first.

On our last day got it pretty well dialed to one fall. Took one of the bigger whips of my life punting off the jug before the final hard moves. Next time I’m in North America this will be high on the list for sure.

Super cool and bouldery route on ya from the get go to the finish.

First try was not great, but I improved my beta a bit. I felt not good on my second try (maybe too much sun or too little water), and the perma draws might have core-shot our rope (we're not quite sure, it might also have been the draws in Magic Light), so I didn't try again today.

Too hard for warm up, then it was too hot. Did a final try in the evening but my skin hurt so much I couldn't even really pull onto the route.

I arrived at the crux already feeling not so fresh anymore after it took me a lot of time to place gear in the irregular crack below. As it turned out, the crux is also hard and technical, so it's very unlikely I could have onsighted it. Skipped the crux using the quickdraw in order to be faster as we only had half a day of climbing, but it would definitely be worth going back to this one.

This place is hard on the body!!
