Grade Route Gear style Quality Score
Sun 27th Jun 2021 - The Altar
17 The Pulpit - with Richard Flinn Sport 10m, 4 Very Good 1
Thinkier than expected, with good rock. A quality line at the grade.

21 Thor's Hammer - with Richard Flinn Sport 14m, 4 Very Good 1
An excellent jamBing and stemming problem. Climbs more like a trad line.

Wed 23rd Jun 2021 - The Altar
19 Catholic Girls - with Richard Flinn Sport 8m, 4 Good 1
20 Hindu Love Gods - with Richard Flinn Sport 11m, 5 Good 1
Loved the flared hand jam/heel hook combo at the top!

21 Randall the Horny Clergyman - with Richard Flinn Sport 11m, 4 Very Good 1
Another excellent micro route at this gem of a crag.

24 Altared - with Richard Flinn Sport 12m, 3 Very Good 1
Very difficult to read on the onsight attempt, but went down easily second go. Pretty bloody committing above the second bolt!

27 McChurch - with Richard Flinn Sport 9m, 4 Very Good 1
Super enjoyable movement going up the right side of the overhang, which is certainly easier than the advertised grade. Nevertheless, it's good quality and still packs a punch. Likely earns you 25 points this way.

23 Rasta's Revolution - with Richard Flinn Sport 11m, 5 Classic 1
I daresay this route deserves 3 stars, despite its diminutive stature. Unlikely, contorted movement makes this one a cracker!

Wed 16th Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Angel Face
21 Release The Wombats - with Richard Flinn Sport 13m, 4 Very Good 1
Great warmup, serves up a bit of everything.

Wed 16th Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Winter Wall
20 Naughty But Nice - with Richard Flinn Sport 16m, 5 Very Good 1
Sustained and continuously good for the grade.

Tue 15th Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
The Alcove
25 Mt Pleasant Butcher Sport 14m, 6 Very Good 1
Climbed through the crux easily second go, but still had to concentrate at the top. Quite a good route notwithstanding the glue.

23 Liposuction Sport 12m, 3 Very Good 1
Steeper than it looks, just like pulling plastic in the gym 🦾

Tue 15th Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Legends Wall
18 Tres Estrellas De Oro Sport 15m, 4 Good 1
Tue 15th Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Angel Face
17 No Quarter Sport 15m, 4 Good 1
16 Easter Rising Sport 15m, 5 Good 1
Fri 11th Jun 2021 - Te Tihi-o-Kahukara / Castle Rock
The Keep
21 Keepless - with Richard Flinn Sport 20m, 6 Average 1
Although the moves off the ledge through to the 3rd bolt are interesting, this route is marred by the fact that it is quite contrived, especially the top half where it would be silly to avoid the ledges out left. Served as a warmup in any case.

25 Reincarnation - with Richard Flinn Sport 20m, 8 Classic 1
Managed to get it done second shot. This line serves up stonking stemming stances from bottom to top, with a bit of power and spice thrown in. Would be perfect I daresay once the holds (which to be fair are only 10 years old) clean up.

Wed 9th Jun 2021 - Cattlestop Crag
Surgical Strike Wall
21 Group Grope - with Richard Flinn Sport 15m, 4 Average 1
Unremarkable climbing, sharp and dirty.

24 Gutless Wonder - with Richard Flinn Sport 15m, 4 Very Good 1
Zero stars?? IMO this must be one of the better lines at Cattlestop. The glued hold is somewhat off putting, but the moves are good fun.

Wed 9th Jun 2021 - Cattlestop Crag
Solar Wall
22 Space Dust - with Richard Flinn Sport 8m, 3 Good 1
Well that was a humbling experience! Probably the only time it’s ever taken me 3 go’s to tick the grade. Apparently my slab technique has fully oxidised!

Wed 9th Jun 2021 - Cattlestop Crag
Shimmering Jelly Wall
22 Intelligent Design - with Richard Flinn Sport 12m, 3 Good 1
Barely independent of SJ, but worth doing.

20 Shimmering Jelly - with Richard Flinn Sport 12m, 2 Very Good 1
Quite nice, crimpy climbing that feels longer than it is. One of the longest routes at the crag, with perhaps the fewest bolts.

19 Dead Possum - with Richard Flinn Sport 14m, 4 Good 1
Decent boulder problem warm up.

Sat 5th Jun 2021 - Cattlestop Crag
Dwarf Wall
24 Plop - with Richard Flinn Sport 10m, 3 Good 1
Better than expected roped boulder problem, but oh so sharp! Single bolt anchor.

Sat 5th Jun 2021 - Cattlestop Crag
Surgical Strike Wall
20 Violet Crumble - with Richard Flinn Sport 12m, 4 Good 1
Decent warmup, but not very interesting after the first couple of bolts.

23 Passage To India - with Richard Flinn Sport 13m, 3 Very Good 1
A bit wandery, but with good movement throughout.

22 Cattle Prod - with Richard Flinn Sport 15m, 4 Very Good 1
Definitely harder than the grade suggests. More like 23-24 IMO, but only for a move or two. Consistently good to the top.

20 Satanic Verses - with Richard Flinn Sport 15m, 3 Good 1
Run out start on jugs with a slopey finish.

Thu 3rd Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Winter Wall
22 Quake Effect Sport 16m, 5 Very Good 1
A bit tweaky on the fingers for the warm up! Fell figuring out the sequence at the 1st, lowered and sent. More sustained than many other routes here, which is welcome!

Thu 3rd Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Tiger Wall
24 Pleasant Point Sport 15m, 5 Good 1
Hung at the 1st before figuring out the sequence, fired it from the ground second go. Listed as a 24 in the Burnell guide, which seems right.

Thu 3rd Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
Legends Wall
22 Get To Grips Sport 12m, 4 Average 1
Another line with a classy, thin crux that gives way to mank.

24 Face Plant Sport 18m, 6 Average 1
Good, crimpy moves quickly deteriorate to a dirty ramble.

Thu 3rd Jun 2021 - Britten Crag
The Roofs
23 WYSIWYG Sport 15m, 4 Very Good 1
Nearly everything was seeping massively today, so choices were limited. Fortunately, this line delivered with some great bouldery moves.
