Ascents in Freycinet National Park

Night ascent, so fun!

Going to go against popular opinion and say this at best is a one star climb, not trying to take anything away from first ascensionists or people who enjoy this climb, just didn't really think much of it comparative to what else is available in this area

Engaging start and scary top with minimal hands and feet on slab till end

I missed the flake out right which made it pure jamming and quite a bit harder than it needed to be. Great protection until the run out at the top. Classic route.

Unreal v-groove into a heady granite egg slab topout.

Was gonna go back to star factory but with a lineup for the classics roughly as long as the walk-in we decided to rap into the Hazards Main Cliff instead and had an accidentally terrific day of friction slabbing on amazing granite. The last pitch in particular is about 60° with about one hold on it. Unreal, pure, technical uphill-walking.

Unreal slab climbing in an outrageous position - the final pitch is pure class. Fozetti's first multi.

Captivating and fun. A great intro into the Freycinet slabs. Shout out to the bolters who've done a great job.

Unreal climbing with every pitch providing something different. Extremely well bolted so as not to detract from the style of climbing, but giving you protection when you really need it. Particularly loved the last pitch. A total classic.

Nice #3 camalot jamming.

An adventure to the climb it was, slab hasn't quite been my friend but we have gotten real intimate, especially when doing the last run out pitch with head torches

everything you expect from an old Henry Barber route: physically exhausting and at the very hard end of the grade

Really nice and varied slab climbing. First three pitches could (just) be rapped on an 80m fixed line (send the heaviest person first). Great climbing in an amazing location, with some pretty exposed bits for slab. If this only gets 2 stars in the book I can't wait for the 3 star routes on this wall. Approach was a bitch, spent hours trying to find the track from the ridge to the anchors. After reaching a flat slabby outcrop near the top, sidle right around a large and a very large boulder, down through the bushes, then hard left back up to the ridge. Gain the rocky ridge and head back North to some dome-topped boulders, then hard right down through scrub, hard right again to find the Suzuki complex. Rap anchors are directly below obvious corner, you'll see the fixed static rope used to access them

What a unique route. Pure granite slabbing with maybe 5 hand holds the whole route. Really on the feet and trusting smears with the perfect amount of run out between bolts for spice!

every pitch builds on top of the last until the final exam... I didn't know what footwork was before this

tried this before I knew about granite footers lol... Some spice. Maybe missed the small small wires cause I had a solid wire and .5's for the end

Such an amazing route. As Phyllix had done it before we decided to try and do as quickly as possible. 115 mins is the time to beat, from rap ropes thrown to both people touching the top anchor

Scared, pumped, but pulled through. Indeed sparse at the top, make sure to be competent at slab. Fulfilling route.

Yet more evidence to show that henry barber never fully understood the Ewbank grading scale.

Gets quite wide at the top (bd#4) and there’s an old tree to lower off. Tree has seen better days though.

So so good! Had a battle on the first pumpy crack section, learning a lot about reading granite along the way. The slab was the perfect way to keep you engaged until the very end of the climb too - not too tricky once I forced myself to slow down and read the rock properly first.
