5.12a | ★★★ Quarter Century Girl - with Deano | 25m | Horne Lake | ★★★ Classic | Mon 8th Aug 2016
One slip and one sit. Would definitely feel soft with a bit of endurance. Almost all jugs, with a couple of great rests on the way.
|

5.12b | ★★ Plastic Jesus - with Deano | 18m | Horne Lake | ★★ Very Good | Mon 8th Aug 2016
One fall going for the big hole (end of the crux?), and lowered off for Deano to have another go.

5.12b | ★★★ Moonraker - with Deano | 25m | Horne Lake | ★★★ Classic | Sun 7th Aug 2016
Found the mid-height crux hard, but apparently I missed a pocket...Almost let go just before the anchors. Just the one go. Couple of falls midway, and one sit higher up.

5.11b | ★★★ The Body p2 - with Deano | 40m | Horne Lake | ★★★ Classic | Sat 6th Aug 2016
Had a fall at the flake just before the chert bands. For some reason, we thought there was only 9 bolts on the second pitch, but there's 12! Super pumpy just before the chert bands, easing off after second bolt into chert.

5.10a | ★ Mr Punctuality | Sansum Narrows | ★ Good | Mon 1st Apr 2024
Above the ledge took central line where bolt is. A bit confusing that next bolt zigs 2m left and then just a meter and a half after that 3rd bolt zags back right. I clipped the 1st and 3rd bolts above ledge, keeping the rope straight. The second bolt seemed superfluous being so close to the 3rd. Thought I might have been off-route, because observed two top rope ascents that went up far left side closer to 2nd bolt line.

5.10c 5.9 | ★★ The Delightful Mr Bongles - with Spence Newell | 15m | East Sooke Park | ★ Good | Thu 29th Sep 2022
A NOTE ON THE APPROACH TO MIRKWOOD FOREST (see attached photos): it will take about 20 minutes to get to Mirkwood from the entrance at the top of the East Sooke Regional Park parking lot. Continue following the signposts towards Beechey Head. You have to climb up and down a large hill to get to the final signpost (see photo); the trail to the base of the bluff will be approximately 50-100 metres from there, on the left side. There is a large tree to mark this wall, as well as stones which have been arranged around the bases of the different climbs.
THE DELIGHTFUL MR BONGLES: Wasn't able to get past the 2nd of 4 bolts on lead. There is a large gap (approximately 3-4 metres in length) between the 2nd and 3rd bolts in a very slabby section of the wall, which happens to be the crux of the climb. It doesn't feel safe for a fall. Owing to this, I actually think the grade should be higher, likely closer to 5.10c than the posted grade of 5.9. The wall has clearly lost some of its original features, so it's possible that the grading has changed owing to this. Request for the local climbing community: could someone add an additional bolt between bolts 2 and 3? I think this would suffice to allay any safety concerns. It would bring the total number of bolts up to 5. N.B: we still ended up finishing the climb on TR. A 5-10 minute hike up and around the Mirkwood Forest bluff will allow you to safely approach the anchor from above. |

5.11b | FA ★★ Wax Off | 7 | Glen Lake Crag | ★★ Very Good | Mon 17th Sep 2018
Grading this one was very difficult because I have a cold, it was dark by the time we finished bolting it, I didn't have a headlamp, and a key hold in the upper crux broke, which forced the route to go left to different crux, instead of straight.

5.12c | FA ★★★ Feel the Fingers - with Marcus Lacroix | 13m, 5 | Glen Lake Crag | ★★★ Mega Classic | Thu 20th Jun 2019
I am so stoked to have put this line up with Marcus! It went first go on my 3rd session on it. I have been looking at it since we started developing Glen Lake Crag in 2015 and knew that one day I would bolt a climb it. I just wanted to wait until I was strong enough. I have only really been bouldering for a few years now, so when grading it I knew it was harder than any 5.12b I had done and it feels like a v6 maybe or even v7. So I think 5.12+ is fair. I am curious to see if others will find better beta to lower the grade.
