Ascents of Carrion Comfort

First try today, plus one repeat to refine placements and gain fitness for placing the gear. Not using the bridges anymore, climbs better and there's still decent rests to be had, may not change difficulty much either way..

Ground up attempt took a bit of faffing figuring out the moves and gear. Gave a top-rope go to refine everything but ended up getting it clean 1st go. Will come back very soon for proper redpoint attempts. Used the opposing wall twice for rest/gear placing stances, might make it closer to 24? But it's logical and doesn't feel off-route. Beware the big ole wasp nest in one of the grass trees at the belay

3rd shot. Pretty sick route, felt good third time now I had the locks down at the top. Dislocated my shoulder as I pulled the top move to the chains doing a press like an idiot but managed to hold on, pop it back in then clip the chains.

Just spectacular climbing!

First exploratory burn ground up. Dogged my way figuring out gear and moves. Bottom felt smooth while the top off-fingers section felt slippery and desperate - couldn’t figure it out and pulled past in the blistering sun

Was a bit shaken up from Dan's hectic whipper. Jumped off at the same point for reassurance.

Start corner felt like the crux. The rest just kind of happened by keeping on chugging. Felt good but was so hot and sweaty.

Had a few burns on top rope solo after red point attempt Worked out sonñme better gear beta for lower crux and a knee jam But was too pooped to even link the whole route clean

Working this one out with Rob and somehow the moves came together. Stunning line, and one i thought too hard for me. The crux is definite, but has decent gear above and below, so maybe next year it will go.

Red Point up next! Beautiful line, one of the best I've climbed at frog to date.

First shot with gear in, flashish (had done first half last week but had to bail). Expect it to be a bit spicier putting gear in next time!

Had to bail out at ~2/3 height, the wasps won the game of chicken. We bailed off up the climb to left.

Really enjoyed the exploratory laps on this one but have mixed feels. With my span, sticking to just the Carrion Comfort crack feels forced/contrived. I can just stem between it and LLL which must drop the grade down a notch or two?

Maybe the top 3rd is 25 (couldn't climb as a wasp nest had moved in) but the lower parts didn't feel it for this +16 long boi. Morpho specific 25?

Nothing like having it all come together for one hell of a birthday send. After spending a few weeks healing a busted knuckle from this climb it was so nice to go straight to the chains first thing today. Probably my favourite route at Frog so far, and definitely a 3 star climb if ever there was one.

Whimped out and sat just before the crux at the start… then proceeded to the top no issues! Beautiful finger-locking the whole way. There is a wasp nest guarding one of the face holds - forces you to use the crack!

The Heberdens nodules are making thin cracks tricky. I used to like them. Ended up going up LLL and stepping across when I could finally bridge. Shoulder not happy. Heatstroke. Definitely despairing and feel like carrion feast.

Fierce. Fairly pure thin crack work, stemming and a bit of lay back.

Stoked with this after my recent back injury. A sensational climb!

Finally got it after about 4 days of trying. We opted to rule out stemming and I think the climb is better for it. A very worthy project and a climb that I will go back to in the future as a benchmark.

Can’t breathe, can’t hold on, definitely can’t bridge into adjacent route. Not sure why I even tried but beats dying in van

Ahhh I greased out/slipped off the crack 2 or 3 moves from the end.... so disappointing . Amazing route

Terrific finger crack super sustained. Fell at the top and once down low. A #4 could be handy for the first wide slot

Fell at the crux. Didn't have a calm enough state of mind to find the sequence. Another cracker line!

I thought this was good but a little disappointing as if you're tall (and remotely flexible) you can bridge to LLL.
