Ascents of Gollum

Very enjoyable if you're into this sort of thing and probably pretty harrowing if you're not....

As someone who IS into this, I found it pretty red-hot.

Fantastic climb, particularly the second pitch, not the best belay between the pitches

Really fun technical climbing. Pitches probably 18, 19. First pitch has an unprotected traverse leading to a diagonal ramp in an outrageous position. Second pitch classic slabbing.

No way this should be graded 17 in the guide book.

Good, albeit quite serious climbing. Is graded 17, 19 in the Arapiles guide but agree that is feels a tad stiffer than some of the other climbs at the same grade in the area. I climbed the easier, ?dodgier second pitch. Some protection available but I would not like to have fallen off it to test its worth! Cameron blitzed the tougher second pitch with very spaced but good small cam placements.

This really did my head in. Good enough pros, but run out in some places. It reminds me of Rat Alley a lot.
