Excellent stemming with a few tricky bits to get your brain going for p2.

2 24 40m Second lead by Thirsty

Well led by the big fella. A real tough sequence a few bolts before the anchor. I just managed to squeak it out clean on second.

3 24 30m Sport

A lusty traverse indeed! Dropped it at the move off the pocket. There was three holds to go for and of course I chose the worst of the three.

Epic multi, all pitches high quality. Deployed the 100m static for an easy rap in for this and rutger

Will have to come back for the last pitch. Really happy to get the second pitch clean. A bit wet here and there. Didn't stem that much. Just face climbed most of it. Heaps of choss to keep you thinking.

I was silently shitting it before this one. I had teed this up with nathan after mouthing off about it at the freezer a week ago and it really only occured to me the night before how ambitious this really was. An airy rap down and we were under the climb. How many 24s you done? Nathan asked. Not many. I set off up the wet open book and surprised myself with a dogless run up the 40m opener. Panting as i brought up nathan. He blasted out an onsight for p2 which i came to appreciate greatly when it came my turn. Found that top section nails even with some draw pulling. We were looking good around midday for top of p2 and we could practically see the finish line. I took the lead back for p3 intending to belay after the traverse and let nath lay siege to the overhung finish. I remembered how scary traverses were at the start of the big ledge and did the only thing i know how.. find a rest. Not just any rest on this occasion. I catapulted half my body into the filthy cavelet above the rail and shuffled across for 10m clipping bolts. Feeling as though i had cheated my way to the anchors, i shimmied along until the cave ran out and i found some incut sand crimps to lower my trembling body off the ledge and onto some footer. 1 hard sequence to the anchors. Faffed around for quite a while trying to find the sequence and eventually committed. Until today i had never powerscreamed and couldnt understand how one could exert themselves sufficiently to require it. I pulled in and snatched a hold that i just managed to maintain and bellowed out a yell over the grose valley. The next 4 seconds were slow-mo and i resigned myself to the fact that i could not compress enough to make the next snatch. I took the swing down. After a few attempts, i had a go at traversing lower and making my way up a very dodgy looking flake by swinging through the blank section. I pulled my body weight onto the flake and it exploded off the wall. At this point morale had hit rock bottom. 10m of rope ascension just to get back to the draw and a retreat back across the traverse lay ahead. I made the grim trip back and nathan had a crack. I was immediately happy with my horizontal chimney decision because the face traverse looked insane. Once we were both across with much rope and gear assistance, we jugged out the fixed rope we had set for the first rap. With beer and burgers on our minds, we sorted the gear and trooped back to the van bound for the pub in blackheath where an old drunk lady gave 'our generation' shit for being glued to our phones. This one has to go into the 'epic' category. Not because of the drunk lady, that wasnt too much skin off the back. Some lessons were learnt; not throwing myself at traverse pitches 3 points above my max while on a rap-in multi would be one, and if i am, at least confirm said pitches are aidable. I was stoked to try hard on exposure and climb aswell as i did today. It was a positive experience overall and lucky to benefit from the level-headedness of nath solving problems and getting us up the hill to safety.

Lead pitch 1&3 .Awesome technical moves on the first two pitches, really enjoyable flow peppered by some spicy sequences.i found the last moves on pitch 3 to be nails, and couldn’t find anywhere to clip from, didn’t feel like taking the swinging whipper more than once so ended up pulling through those moves (we fixed a rope up top for the first rap)

all the niceties of stemming, without having to pace the gear. pretty run out in some places, but not in places where you'd run into trouble. best christmas eve in a while

A bit less techy corner climbing than expected but a really good climb nonetheless. Some nice exploding choss holds to keep things lively.

TOP climbing, really nice corner with some tricky moves in pitch two and amazing traverse and overhang in pitch three. One of my best climb in Blue Mountains.

Super awesome route. Just like some classic rad trad but with a squillion bolts. First pitch is really fun and quite sustained but probably not 23, i think 22 is fair. I thought pitch two is even better again, being fairly moderate till about half way where it gradually gains intensity until the very end. Here the crux was made quite tricky as the entire upper section of the face was problematically saturated and almost none of the face holds were at all useable. Hence i channelled my inner trad dad and power stemmed the corner direct to glory. Not sure of the grade here; the moves would certainly be pretty gnarly for a 23 but i dont really onsight 24 and it was pretty much only the one hard sequence coming out of a good rest, so maybe it isn't too bad. The last pitch was also really cool with the traverse being awesome and super out there. I found the crux quite difficult to read and subsequently fell off After it was figured though out the moves were fine. Definitely deserving more attention! Get on it!!

Sensational. OS p1, great stemming up the long corner, p2 fell off on 2nd at the last move of the crux, truly desperate. Loved the lusty traverse into the flake and upwards into a nails hard sequence of two finger pockets sharp sidepulls and sandy slopers... nails! A bold first ascent, phew...

Pitch 1 OS - Awesome long pitch up the corner, was pretty tired by the end of it. Pitch 2, 2nd - Probably easier climbing than pitch 1 up until the crux just before the anchor. Took a few falls on 2nd to get through the crux, wet crimps made this hard. Wicked climbing. Pitch 3, dog - Mega pumpy traverse up to some hard moves that took a couple of goes to work out. Awesome route, will be back to clean up the dogs.

With JengA. Awesome! P1 - 2nd Clean; P2 - Dog (fell off one move from the jugs right at the end of the pitch... One of the crux microcrimps was seeping, and after being on it for a while desperately clipping the bolt, I finally slimed off when I tried to move off it; P3 - 2nd Clean. P1 and P2 are stunning wide-open-book techno-stemming (probably 23 an 24 respectively) with the last 5m of P2 being desperate. P3's wild traverse is easy but gripping, and the crux finale is a dyno-happy pumpfest.

Awesome grose valley classic. I was apprehensive about this climb due to my poor stemming skill but had a blast. Pretty psyched to send the whole line with hard crux's on every pitch split by really great sub 20 climbing.

Scary as f flake, bout the size of a car... Held in with a bit of glue, almost as if that would help if it went... so it's quite fun pulling into that!
