Grade Route Gear style Quality
Sun 14th Sep 2014 - Valley Of The Rogue
Greensprings Left Section
5.10c Chain Links Sport 6 Very Good
Great moves. Watch out for the loose hold near the first bolt.

5.8 5.7 Snake-N-Flake Trad Don't Bother
Avoid. The book draws a topo line up a moss-choked seam, which strikes me as dubious and at odds with the recommended gear width. To the right of this is the 2.5" crack leading to the loose column. The low climbing is good, but after that everything is ugly. The loose column is dangerous, but you'll need to plug some gear around the stronger section of it. Above this bad gear, a run-out on chossy holds leads to a bush for a top anchor. I traversed to the Knobland anchor instead.

Sun 14th Sep 2014 - Valley Of The Rogue
Greensprings Right Section
5.11b Free Goo Sport 4 Very Good
This was much more fun than I thought it'd be. Yay heel hooks!

5.11d 5.11+ Yosemite Crack Mixed trad 15m, 1 Very Good
TR. Couldn't get past ringlocks and a crack too narrow for my toes.

5.12b Last Chance Sport 15m, 6 Very Good
Struggled on TR. Skipped the low crux of the route and climbed the much easier upper half, which was quite fun.

5.8 Razor Crack Trad 15m Very Good
Great fun! Watch for loose stuff below the crack.

Sun 27th Jul 2014 - Gold Beach
Kissing Rock
5.8 5.8 R Sun Kissed Sport 49m, 5 Very Good
30mph sustained winds and some vicious rope drag detracted a bit from the experience on this one. Still, the view was good, and it's always interesting to stand on a sea stack at the beach.

Tue 18th Mar 2014 - Smith Rock State Park
Monkey Face Area Monkey Face
5.7 A1 5.7 A1 Pioneer Route Aid 70m Classic
Laura struggled with the bolt ladder, so I rapped from the mouth to Bohn Street. We then rapped from the Rising Expectations anchor back to the ground (70m rope recommended for that last rappel). Amazing exposure. I'll be back some day (West Face Direct Variation perhaps?).

Mon 17th Mar 2014 - Smith Rock State Park
The Dihedrals
5.6 Right Slab Crack Trad 37m Good
with Laura. P1 only. Ignored the crack and the right side of the bottom dihedral for some fun face climbing.

5.6 Easy Reader Sport 18m, 5 Good
with Laura. Entertaining footwork on knobs.

5.8 Rodney's Chocolate Frosted Love Donut Sport 20m, 7 Good
with Laura. Linked with Ginger Snap. It's easy to see that the quality of this one has improved over time as the nubbins snapped off.

5.8 Rodney's Chocolate Frosted Love Donut Sport 20m, 7 Good
Linked with the easy climbing right of Ginger Snap.

5.8 Ginger Snap Sport 18m, 4 Good
with Laura. Linked this with Rodney's Chocolate Frosted Love Donut.

Sun 16th Mar 2014 - Smith Rock State Park
The Dihedrals
5.6 Cinnamon Slab Trad 37m Very Good
with Laura. Linked P1 & P2. P1 was great fun. Rock quality on P2 is not nearly as good, but the climbing was still enjoyable. Rapped with an 80m.

Sun 16th Mar 2014 - Smith Rock State Park
Red Wall Area Red Wall
5.6 Super Slab Trad 140m Very Good
with Laura. Super slab pitch was great. P2 traverse was a little funky. Two rap descent with 80m rope.

Sun 24th Nov 2013 - Valley Of The Rogue
Emigrant Lake Aqua Wall and Aqua Cave
5.11d Sniff Sport 9m, 5 Classic
Damn that was fun. Mother Nature crafted some wonderful handholds up the underside of this cave. The guide book describes the route as "contrived until you try it" and I'd agree. It felt strangely natural to stick to the steepest line. Fun knee bar! Tightly bolted -- I'll have to try this again on lead!

5.10b Aqua Man Sport 20m, 7 Good
Link up. Clipped first 2 bolts of Captain Horatio Horn Blower, traversed right and finished on Aqua Man starting from the 2nd bolt. Good fun. Also led to a more interesting (and sustained) route.

5.8 Pet Cemetery Mixed trad 24m, 4 Average
TR'ed a (5/8/5.9) line mixing Beyond the Siskiyou Sky and this route. Some fun cracks and bulges to overcome.

5.8 Pet Cemetery Mixed trad 24m, 4 Average
with Laura. A couple of bolt placements were a bit awkward. Twice I placed gear only to find a bolt later. I personally thought the rock quality was least conducive to gear at the only spot where bolts are lacking! Still, there were a few fun moves and interesting pockets on the route.

Sun 11th Aug 2013 - Valley Of The Rogue
Mount Ashland Mount Ashland Bowl
5.8 Board Head Sport 3 Very Good
5.10b Fishhooks On The Whip Sport 3 Very Good
(Second part of link up with White Slab Crack). Huge holds, fun moves. 3rd bolt is harder to clip if you're short, but there's a spot for a 0.5 C4 between bolts 2 and 3.

5.7 White Slab Crack Trad Average
(First part of link up with Fishhooks on the Whip).

Sun 11th Aug 2013 - Valley Of The Rogue

Smith Rock Group East Side Routes Northeast Face
5.10b 5.10c Lost in Space - with Jadian Sport 120m, 36 Don't Bother
Led P4 only after climbing White Lycra. Abysmal rock quality followed by a fantastic view.

5.10b White Lycra - with Jadian Mixed trad 76m, 19 Classic
My very kind climbing partner gave me the money pitch. Used up #9, #10, and #11 hexes on that one! Belayed from one good bolt backed up by a #3 C4 cam far back to the right. Then continued up the last 1.5 pitches of Lost in Space.

Sun 12th May 2013 - Smith Rock State Park
The Lower Gorge West Columns Wildfire Wall
5.10a Gruff - with Jadian Trad 23m Very Good
Jams felt a little painful. Still very fun.

5.10b Cornercopia - with Jadian Mixed trad 24m, 1 Classic
Fantastic route. I popped in a blue alien above the bolt, decided I didn't want to fall on it, and hung at the bolt until I saw a better foothold and cam placement. Really fun moves all the way up.

5.10b Cornercopia - with Jadian Mixed trad 24m, 1 Classic
Had to do it twice.

Sun 12th May 2013 - Smith Rock State Park
The Lower Gorge East Columns Shakespeare Cliff
5.7 Two Gentlemen's Pneumonia - with Jadian Trad 23m Good
5.8 Ophelia - with Jadian Trad 23m Very Good
Fun double cracks. Pulled the bulge at the top.

5.9 Othello - with Jadian Trad 23m Very Good
5.9 Azog - with Jadian Trad 21m Very Good
Really enjoyable jams and stemming

Sat 11th May 2013 - Smith Rock State Park

5.8 Lost and Found Trad 12m Good
5.7 Huckleberry Hound - with Jadian Trad 12m Good
Fun! Good jams.

5.7 Gagged and Bound - with Jadian Trad 12m Average
Climbing the chimney behind the detached column offered one way to escape the heat!

5.10b Lube Me Up Scotty - with Jadian Mixed trad 12m, 1 Good
Some fun easy mantles towards the end of the arête.

5.9 Into White - with Jadian Trad 12m Good

The Lower Gorge West Columns Wildfire Wall
5.11a Pure Palm - with Jadian Sport 24m, 8 Classic
Fell above the the last bolt and had a sad. For the next few days my palms burned and my hips were stiff from so much stemming. Amazing route.

Fri 10th May 2013 - Smith Rock State Park
Basalt Rimrock Practice Area The Northern Point
5.11a The Limbo - with Jadian Sport 12m, 6 Very Good
Started to rain! The ledge would have made this a scary lead IMHO.

5.11a Woman in the Meadow - with Jadian Sport 12m, 5 Classic
Fantastic moves up beautiful rock. Packs a lot of pump in 35 ft.

5.11a Woman in the Meadow - with Jadian Sport 12m, 5 Classic
Fri 10th May 2013 - Smith Rock State Park
Smith Rock Group West Side Routes Northwest Wall
5.10a Earthtone Mixed trad 19 Don't Bother
Lowered from Wherever I May Roam anchors to top-rope P2 only. Rotten rock made this a regrettable decision.

5.9 Wherever I May Roam Sport 120m, 40 Classic
Led P2 and P4. Stunning views from the summit. Anchors atop P3 can get crowded as other parties descend.

Thu 9th May 2013 - Smith Rock State Park

5.10c Butterknife Arête - with Jadian Sport 21m, 10 Very Good
Had a nice little "Why am I falling?" moment near the crux. Good moves.

5.9 Sunset Slab - with Jadian Sport 23m, 9 Classic
Great fun. Climb only left or right of the bolts for some fun variation.
