Ascents in Red Point

Lowered down this to have a look. A few quite interesting meters and a pile of choss around it. Worth doing the few good meters if you happen to be here

One of the worst routes I've climbed, frankly a waste of bolts. Luckily just came out for a little explore, but what a lame thing to bolt. Don't bother

There are two lines of variously vegetated cruddy overgrown cracks through ironstone on this wall - both have probably been climbed and named in the past, one has a more recent SS carrot. I climbed both with little pleasure.

Cruddy Crack II - Return of the Ferns.

Average lichen, dirt, ironstone and crimps.

In 1969 the Stones had Honky Tonk Women, Led Zep was belting out Whole Lotta Love and a young Keith Bell was leading it out up this wall with a sideways hex or two and a nut in a notch. Here's to you mate!

Passed two small Angophoras that had been sawn clean off, certainly not in 1969. Is this modern "route cleaning"?? Crack OK for pro below, wire in nose then not much.

Possible cams and sideways nuts before the bulge then ticklish move and not much to 2 ring l/o

Passed one bashed-in useless carrot.

One bad cam at 5m before gal carrot and one-move crux at 6m then gal carrot and S/S glue-in at overhang cave. Blundered up left walls of Easy Gully easily enough.

Bit hard to see where this goes with all the new carrots. No much pro.

No much before the cracks give out then pretty thin on the carrots.

Fun climb, well protected. It’s a pity it’s not more travelled to clean up some of the loose stuff. Apparently still lead-able when Tim had a suspected broken rib

Nice, easy ramble on a wild setting

As described great finger crack but sadly broke a hold at crux and pulled two small cams to hit the ground. The cams were placed deep enough but the rock is too soft and they pulled. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless another bolt is placed, I was lucky just to get away with some bruises and a suspected broken rib. Maybe Groundfalll would be a better name?

A little stiff for the grade but some good fun moves in it.

Simul climb out of the crag after a big day scoping.

Really fun little route with some weirdness and suspect rock. Logical to link the first two pitches up to the rings and then either rap off or top out via the gulley that is actually pretty fun.

Led P1 up the brilliant jam crack. P2 has some great moves, but is a bit dirtier than P1 with some friable rock, but excellent gear.

Interesting and engaging climbing.

Great climbing to start. Disappointing gear at the crux, which is weird as there is fixed gear protecting the easier sections which not really necessary.

Certainly applied the beached whale technique to access the P1 belay ledge
