Ascents of The Olos Slab

Extremely fun (and painful)! Maybe a tad soft for the grade once you find out where all the rests on the slab are.

Didn’t climb it. I belayed (pulled) this guy (Pete) all the way up. Bloody hands hurt. It was agreed that I deserved a tick for my effort. The last couple moves at the top looked like they were the only ones worth doing.

One day i will send this line. Dont hold your breath though.. it might take a couple decades. Such an iconic climb and definitely does feel like a frog hard wall route. My toes are mushed and my fingers feel like the dodgy debt collectors got hold of them but greatly enjoyed mucking around on it. Traverse into and turning the roof are absolutely wild. Thankyou for having me mr olos and excuse my punter grigri + prussik rope solo setup. It will be refined next time

Very difficult...

Belayed Tim on his redpoint send (fantastic effort!), then gave it a go with very little expectation. With moment-to-moment beta spray from Tim and many sits on the rope I did all the moves and made it to the top. Thanks Tom for the photos!! Sick route, lots of fun.

Best route at kp short of Idiot Wind! Surprisingly well protected (if you stick-clip), and beautifully techy climbing.

Didn’t take the time to figure out the crux, but the rest flowed quite nicely. Best done on shoes with a good edge

Got all the beta down. Sent it to practicing the clips. Now to wait for some skin and lead it.

made more progress, and found much better beta for the crux that works for me. freed up to the 2nd bolt before slipping off, hoping to get through to the third next session.

managed to do all the moves free individually, on my first look at it, now just to try link them all

Tried it on top rope to make sure we could clean it easily since I wasn't sure I'd get to the top. But actually it wasn't as tough as I feared (but I was on top rope, so the mental game wasn't there). Did all the moves so now it'll just be trying it on lead and piecing it all together. Cheers to Peter for setting it up and Josiah for the beta!

Bolt to bolt. Much better conditions and a different pair of shoes than last week both made a difference.

An unexpected send. Hadn’t really figured out how do the crux well and expected but to peel off there, but somehow managed to unlock the beta while on send.

Tried this for the first time in awhile last week, but it felt almost impossible. The humidity and dirt didn’t help.

Wow. Cool climb. Honestly the first few bolts felt hardest. Got the top portion ok once I sussed it.

Made it past the crux and stuffed up the foot sequence. Unfortunately shuwei had to jet to work and I thought my chances were over.

Was about to go rap and clean my draws but Sarah came to the rescue for a belay. Just fell before the crux again with a silly foot slip.

Probably the one project on my list that I had alot of doubt about. Can't believe this project went down. It's been a few years in the making. Cloud nine right now!

Hanged the draws in the dark and brushed the key holds. Had a foot pop and didn't even make it to the crux.

Had a few top rope burns. Felt pretty good with the beta. Having a month off has definitely made the fingers weak. Keen to come back and hang the draws top down to give it a good lead shot.
