Ascents in Harbour Side Slabs having Beta

Made it about halfway to where you put your foot on the ledge that you first hold onto when starting the climb but had trouble finding where to put my hand after lugging my leg at a strange angle onto the ledge. A fun climb up to there though and I shall be back for more attempts.

We put up with the mediocre sidestops of bluies and buffalo and stuff, its not the focus but we put up with it.. all of it, in order to achieve the main aim of going down the road to kurraba point ferry stop in sydneys suburban north with uncle craigs outdoor couch cushions and togs for the harbour cool-off afterwards, and having a crack at the local layback boulder. This delicate little piece was almost worth the warm up fall that cost me my sunnies. Nice delicate arete layback and a measured deadpoint up high. The best part of it: yim was too short to reach the start hold. Karma for that self-advocating disco crag write up. To all aspiring headpointers, theres a rusted carrot up top if god forbid youve got the time, patience and desire for public embarrassment to bring a rope here.

looks like a piece of rock has freshly come off near the top of the arete, unsure if relevant as i didn't get that high..

Realised that the style of all these boulders are the complete opposite of what I enjoy. High, no topouts/easy descents, fragile holds

a fun problem with a gently over hanging start into a good finish on decent holds. Nice climb to break up the infinite slab climbs that surround it

Funky moves on a slowly dissipating a arete. Cool climb with a different feel to most of the other climbs on the walls adjacent

Pure slabby goodness. Delicate moves on thin crimpers gave that satisfying slabby feel

Scary, commiting yet quite rewarding slab. Way scarier as this wall was pretty mossy and unclean. Still climbable and quite fun

Super great moves on scarce holds. This one was super dirty, spider webs on half the holds and mossy to high heavens. Didn't have a brush so did my best with some long sticks but this one definitely needs to see more traffic or a good clean to bring it to it's prime. The final few moves were terrifying and much too much trust was put into slippery smears which somehow didn't give out. A satisfying and rewarding climb, definitely the crown climb of the crag

Hard for V2. Took several attempts and had to brush off the footholds around the middle of the traverse to get them to stick.

Fun finish to an interesting traverse.

Popped off getting the sequence wrong first up. Super dirty and covered in funnel webs. Cheers for cleaning it up Ry

Stuck it next shot

Was ok. Found a fun line doing a balancy traverse from this all the way to Meanterthal. Nice moves on the face and a bit hairy negotiating the arete above the concrete drain.

Can do on left or right of arête at same grade.

Avoiding the cuttings is a little contrived but good fun

A surprise find. Quite a solid start up to the less than enjoyable pinch. A nice challenge

The New "Hammer And Tongs" - Arete only makes this problem every more enjoyable. Nice and thought provoking

Went up this a few times. A great mix of slab and arete.

Last problem of the day. It took a few tries to get the start. A solid problem from bottom to top that keeps you thinking

A Technical start with some balancing moves throughout! You gotta love slab with an arete!

Very good climb, balance required at the top for the layback. Best climb at the crag.

After finally doing AOS it took a few goes to work out the sequence for the section with no great hand holds.

A lot better that I thought it would be from looking at it. It took me quite a lot of goes to work it out. Second best climb at the crag.

Took a while to work out the first moves but after that it is ok.

Nice thin and requires a bit of balance.
