Nodes in The Hive

A small crag that features a unique climbing style. It has a moderate density of sports and bouldering routes. It's quite sheltered all year round, but some climbs may stay wet for several days after heavy rain.

The walls to the left of the big cave.

Dries much quicker than the rest of The Hive.

Climbs described left to right

Top rope anchors over top of wall, if anyone has information about this climb, it would be greatly appreciated if they could share it here.

Bring one bolt plate. Start as for Little Ideas but head left after second bolt and mantle to ledge. Follow crack to rooflet then left up slightly streno bulge to anchors.

A short techy climb with an interesting crux. Three bolts to anchors.

To the right of Little Ideas. Unusual start then nice climbing to anchors.

Lip traverse and under the roof to finish up higher on a jug. Thin and powerful!

The walls on the right side of the cave

On the wall just over the top of Mud Slice / Unbeelievable, there are a set of ring bolts located at waist height which are easily accessible from the trail atop the cliff. This would make an ideal location to teach someone how to clean/abseil.

Climbs described left to right.

Caution! Unstable rock, stay off. Start marked with SS, first bolt tagged.

Start in the same spot as Honeycomb, but head up the face of the flake instead.

Start at bottom left edge of the large flake beside Mud Slice and follow the edge of the flake up and right to lower offs.

Shares anchors with Honeycomb. Start directly below the anchors and go straight up the slab.

Easy climb on carrots to double ring bolt anchors. Gets a little dirty from time to time.

Slabby but powerful climb to a blank finish. Shares first bolt with Freaky Crawling.

Start as for Creepy Crawling but veer right after the first bolt.

The line of the crag. Climb the featured scoop until its end at the undercut bowl, a mantle over a small roof, followed by a delicate slab. Fixed biners for lowering off.

Starts as for A Bugs Life, then links into Big Ideas, then finishing up on its own anchors.

Stick clip! To the right of Big Ideas. Starts on the block, then takes on the roof with a big move from sharp crimps. Fixed biners for lowering off.

Slightly overhung block with beautiful rainbow coloured grains.

The sharp left arete on the Diffraction Block, from a sit start.

Start with your left hand in the pocket and your right hand on any of the Diffraction start holds. Move up and head left to join the arete before topping out. Sit start

Climb the rainbow wall from a sit start, small edges and straight up.

Start as for Vodka Sunrise, head straight up the face.

Start matched on slopey flat edge. Move up the middle of the face using good side-pull crimps and sneaky heel/toe hooks. Top out

stand start hand matched on right arete the lowest juggy edge that was cleaned of lichen. move left and top out as sunshine.

Rounded geen dragon scale looking boulder.

Start on the prominent arete, a commiting final sequence.

On the back side of the Tolkien Block, climb the bulging wall on sloping crimps.

Climbs the sloped arete right of Glaurung.
