Ascents in Equaliser Wall

All the moves felt good in isolation, but will be hard to put it together.

sent on 5th try. awesome crux.

Not even really an attempt. Batmanned up and tried a few moves but came down because it was so icy cold and windy around this corner.

Good to actually do some climbing on this thing. All the moves went okay but didn’t fully sort the sequence up high. Pretty rad but man the start boulder sucks.

Really rad and interesting climbing. Psyched for a low commitment project maybe. Did all the individual moves through the first and second crux but then came down as I was running low on skin. (x2)

Best route in the gorge. Actually did some moves today. Down to three overlapping sections, fell off the last move of the main crux from the ground. Guess i’d better try to send it then. If Parched is 29 then this is 26 at best. (x3 long laps in the sun)

New high point falling off the around the world sequence like a punter. Warmed up, had a shit burn, had a good burn, had an average burn, went home. (x4)

Off the crimp match, soooo close. Hopefully next time. (x3)

So endeth the send drought. Third go today (including warm up/equipping) and it was a bit of a fight. I was cruising so hard on my first RP go that I forgot to try and dropped the last hard move, but then managed to battle my way through a few little stuff ups on the second RP and clipped the chains. Yay! I would oh so love to take 29 for this, as it would be my first, but alas it is not to be. All up it took; 2 nothing burns to not even half way, 4 equipping/warm up laps, 4 working laps, and 5 proper red point goes. Lovely.

Second go. Just another overlooked good route at Shipley. Better than Supercal.

Pretty rad. Did the moves up to the crux and stuck the crux throw once but ran out of skin.

Did the top sequence this time which was nice. I’m still not that impressed but I guess I should try and do it one day. Liz’s battle was excellent 😉

Second go. Actually a really worthwhile adventure. Gear beta was spot on, I placed three 0.5s, an 0.4, a #2, and a #3. 27 feels quite generous considering it only has one hard move down low but that move is probably quite tricky and might feel a bit rude on a 25 or 26. Worthwhile!

Not as bad as I expected but still not great. Two very very hard moves.

A quick lap to remember an old friend and get some beta for Harry for future attempts.

No warm up means great difficulty. A fairly abortive attempt.

Three goes. Bitterly cold, numbed out, fell off etc etc.

Managed it third go today. The boulder is pretty tricky, but if you can do it you can do the route. A hard one to grade for sure. Not nearly as bad and likely not as hard as advertised, but still not a great route.

Figured out some new beta. Quite tricky but very very very cool.

Did the crux move more convincingly and had some good goes on the traverse but didn’t quite make it. Also managed more than one bolt of climbing at a time which was nice. Just the one go, ‘twas warm.

Two goes. Went to the end of the traverse today for the first time, it’s very tricky! Linked to past the third bolt on my second go which was nice.

Two goes on this plus another in which I quested across the Truck Stop traverse. Actually went to the top for the first time ever which was nice and did a link from below the crux to the end of the traverse. I can't wait to fall off every move of this on link forever.

Seems more than a grade harder than Pooferator. The moves getting into Equaliser are sick though!

One go today in the arctic cold. Did my best link yet from the crux to falling off the dyno. I guess I did it with three sits or something?

Two goes. Everything is slowly getting more reliable but it’s still very very hard. It was incredibly cold.

Two hung it and came really close to a one hang. Conditions don’t get better than they were. What a lovely day of rock climbing! (x3)

Four goes. Getting ever closer to the one hang that convinces you that the route is possible when really you're just getting lulled into some kind of slightly more optimistic gambler's fallacy. #ProjectOrDie

Sore arm from getting jabbed the day before but managed my two best goes?! Got the one hang too. How good. I should get vaccinated every day. (x2)

21 shots (I think) deep now. Had a pretty decent attempt despite the cold. Feeling increasingly solid getting to the crux and then from there onwards. Am I a sport climber yet? Just one go because it was baltic!

Two goes i think. It was brutally cold and i didn't climb very well.

Another three goes. Brand new shoes made some things feel worse and others better. consistent to the crux and maybe getting close to having some promising lobs at it.

Four goes. Constant progress yet no real suggestion of a send yet.

Still not a fan but it is a good test piece.

Perfect conditions. My two best goes yet. I have still only managed the one hang twice though which makes me think a send is still a properly long way off. Ah well. (x3)

The siege continues. Another four goes. One hung it twice and had my two best goes nearly sticking the crux. #ProjectOrDie

Three more goes. Had one that was excellent but the others were average.

Another three. Probably my worst goes in a while. Tried the world cup lower and then go again to stay warm but i’m not nearly strong enough to climb it twice in a row. It’s just so good though!

Three more. Almost through the move today twice which was rad. Double one hang and nearly a third. One day maybe. 46 tie ins now and 20 days. #ProjectOrDIe

Was hoping for connies that replicated Tuesday and thought I may have been in with a real chance. But alas. Hot, damp, humid, gross. Is this the end of the Shipley season? Only one go it was that bad.

Three best goes yet back to back to back. Held the drive by for but a second and then fell off. Still one hanging, still not sending. Connies were on!! #ProjectOrDie

Two goes. Tried hard but it was hot and I was tired from Tuesday strength testing. Ohhh well.
