Ascents in Black Slab

Beta - the crux is where you are standing on a small horizontal ledge. Tall climbers can take a step then reach way up high with their left to find a jug.

Easy top-rop setup access. We set up a top rope only to find there was a single bolt at the top of the route that we could have used.

Awesome fun and quite different to the other climbs we've done. A big fun flake on a well textured wall. Hard work as there's no rest. Unfortuately I had to aid climb a hard spot in the middle. Looking forward to trying again when it's not dark and wet.

My first trad! Great fun. Used a few smaller nuts. Really struggled to get the last one out on the way down. My climbing partner free soloed it before we left, he's got no fear.

Done as a top rope.

Not 100% sure this is what I climbed, but if it is just left of Wise Crack, then the top is very very lose and dangerous. I don't recommend this unless you inspect the top and get rid of some big rocks first...

Damn, fell off trying to clean Jorge's gear, but kind of glad he led it! Will try to lead it next time, but you sort of have to place gear a bit blind...

I didn't enjoy this, and won't be coming back to it.

Had my first fall on trad gear, which I'm actually really pleased to have out of the way now. Got back on and finished the job.

Really nice climbing in the morning sun. Light for the grade.

Very challenging to lead. Top half very awkward to protect as hard to see where to put in gear. Had to dog - don't know if I'll be back for a 2nd attempt!
