Ascents in The Ironing Board

Climbed up to 3rd clip on the face, then around left of the arete for the top out. Avoided using the adjacent face of the chimney

Face goes but felt stiff, inspiring line

Interesting, got it eventually on top rope, man that rock is abrasive!

Left of arete was way too easy. Face of ironing board using left edge only was hard but fun.

The lay-back interesting start could make it a 19 or 20, but the arete is too easy after the second bolt if you use both faces of the arete. Maybe the 23 in the guide book refers to a way of doing it only using the face where the bolts are. But it looks like that would make it even >23. Could not get myself to try that and lose the onsight in case the whole arete was in fact in...

This climb really confounded me. Even in hindsight I'm really confused. Really hard and messy start to the first bolt followed by a too easy, uninteresting top section. I may have been doing it wrong but darned if I can see a way for this to be a nice climb. Really disappointing as the arête looked so promising!
