Castle Rock Campground Bouldering

The climbing is on a coarse granite (Stanthorpe Adamalite). Most of the climbing areas are above well used bushwalking tracks. Be mindful of bushwalkers and tread lightly. This area has had access problems in the past and underlying 'ban climbing' tensions are still around. Climbing is banned altogether on the First Pyramid and Sphinx Rock. Stay off climbs here at ALL times. Ref 2010 Management Plan

V0 Don't Forget the Vodka

Start low right on the sidepull, step up into crack. Reach high right for horns and step up crack.

V4 Prow

Left of the main cluster of boulders is an obvious steep prow with a chalky jug low down. From a sit start off the low jug, blast straight up the nose of the prow.

Kangaroo Rocks

A small cluster of mostly fairly easy boulders, plenty of unclimbed routes still to be done in this area.

Kangaroo Rocks
V2 Roo foot fungus

Climb the crack that makes the Roo's foot boulder's little toe. Laybacking and good footwork lead to an enjoyable gentle top.

V5 The Roo's Claw

At the bottom end of the Roo's Foot Boulder is the rounded arete. Climb this on small holds directly up the face with a little gymnastic flair.

V2 The Cracked Heel

Around the back of the Roo's Foot boulder is a perfect fist/offwidth crack that climbs the back of the boulder direct. Start at the bottom go up, Enjoy!

V0 Little Joey

Climb the easy left side of the flake to gain the ledge, once standing finish straight up as for Joey.

V1 Joey

Sit start beneath the Flake's ledge. One slightly harder move to gain the ledge then finish direct.
