Ascents in Launceston (Cataract) Gorge

Cleaning duties.

I was getting annihilated by the sun, and dry fired off the first hold.

Super rusty with placing gear, although it was a good refresher, and the only positive for climbing the shitty downstream side of the Gorge. A second lap to escape in approach shoes.

Super fun climb!

Walked though cataract gorge with my family and was frothing so hard that i knew i needed to climb something. It was thus a miracle when around the corner this perfect gem appeared. As my mum and sister continued on and Dad gave me a sneaky spot i quickly danced up this in my walking shoes before we jogged back down to catch up and no one was any the wiser.

Spent the evening working this funky little line by myself after a day of mountain biking. Rope soloing with a grigri is harddd. Got all the sequences and gear sorted (#3 BD wire, #0.5 BD cam, #5 BD wire, #3 BD wire) and am looking forward to jumping back on it one day. Should be a fairly straightforward lead.

Knocked this little number over this afternoon after flying into Launceston and charging up the hill with our stupidly heavy packs. Did three top rope laps to figure it out, two of them clean and then sent it on my first lead lap. Super fun but just not long enough to be classic or solid at the grade.

This felt desperate. The start is nails and then the top is very slick. I came off after all the hard stuff slipping near the top. Probably not 21 but it felt hard for 19. Did it second shot.

Three laps to figure out the moves and build some confidence.

Nice to do some hand jams for a change. Pretty cruisy

This was great, if only it were longer. Super fun battle oozing my way up the finger jams with a crowd of tourists cheering me on. Good route!

Quite tricky down low and a bit if a ramble at the top. A fun little route that stayed a bit hidden from the sun.

I definitely found the width of this to be challenging. Mostly pretty easy but it required some serious thrutching on my behalf to surmount the offwidthy bit.

Kinda hard and scary. Not great.

nice jamming, interesting moves turning the roof. Would have been better if I didn't place gear deep under the roof. The crack also liked to eat our rope which was a pain.

good wide crack. Bit dirty, just needs some more traffic.

Took about 5 attempts at the crux (with an audience) before working it out and slapping up.

Very nice climb

Was very close to getting this, but the damp conditions made the slippery feet too commuting for me

Went the wrong way at the start then got it second shot, nice route, unlikely and cool climbing

Pretty average and very nails

Pretty much red pointed it but keep getting sketched on the top out

Loose hold up high, not worth trying until it's glued on, pretty average climb too

Led this with the quickdraws in. Stood on the big boulder on the ground. Tried to do it direct without the boulder, but got too pumped. Awesome lock off move

Found this quite interesting. Not used to crack style climbing, so found this to be quite harder than a 14.

Tried to jam in the crack, but ended up just side pulling. Climbed out of the crag on this climb
