Ascents in Launceston (Cataract) Gorge

I found it really good! Nice technical moves on good crimps. 3 stars for me!

Gets 25 in the guidebook and felt harder than most 24s in the gorge. Either way an awesome climb

Been wanting to do this one for a while, so I'm glad it went down after a long hiatus from climbing.

Nice climbing. Start is fine, all about the meat hook.

Nice balancy climbing.

Short and sweet.

A hidden gem of the gorge. Technical and hard finger locking and jambing with no faceholds except for a rounded arete. Awesome gear, a little tricky to place at the start and finishes up some classic gorge spikes and drill holes.

Some amazing moves on this including big underclings and high steps, but it is not completely independent and requires some long reaches.

Very fun movement. Nice being longer to span between the aretes

Amazing climbing! Some very unlikely sequences that worked and some fortuitous crimps along the way.

The first hanger is flat against the rock making for an exciting hanging belay

Bolts where the climbing is difficult. One mental section in the middle where you need to commit above a nest of RPs, had me spooked. Probably the longest route in the gorge.

Awesome. Other than the 2 bolts at the top, this beauty can be protected solely by wires. Amazing sporty movement on immaculate rock on gear, with a final committing layback crux past 2 bolts. Thoroughly enjoyable.

This was great, if only it were longer. Super fun battle oozing my way up the finger jams with a crowd of tourists cheering me on. Good route!

I did it using the shallow finger crack and then was blown away by annes wild gynmanstic beta to get through the low crux

Excellent for the length.

Got scared of the dirty top out. Clipped a draw on our fixed rap line that was hanging conveniently close.

An epic route, the flake is incredibly disconcerting but the moves are awesome. Just made it with some desperate dynamic moves in the top finger crack.

A bit of a contrived onsight, but never really found a sport to traverse further onto the face. Definitely worth getting on.

Strange line but I enjoyed it

Terrific fingerlocks and smeary laybacking up a steep 0.3-0.5 sized crack. A very unexpected onsight. Stoked to the moon.

One of the best routes in the gorge, close to mega classic status. Beautiful rock, excellent gear, and a very thin steep finger crack at the top with enough extra holds and footholds to keep it sane. Tree belay set a long way back from the edge.

With the right beta, this is less height specific, but definitely reach the way I went.
