Ascents in Peloponnese by peta barrett

Rope drag is the crux. Maybe more like 60m? Lowering to the first anchor, belayer has to climb up to first bolt at about 10m. We had an 80m rope. Long slings essential on first pitch near the first anchor. Someone had removed one of the lower off mallions on the first pitch. The anchors aren’t joined so we left a biner. Hopefully it doesn’t get stolen.

So good! Probably not 55m we still had 3-5m each when we lowered to the first belay station.

Not as good as the first part. Sting in the tail.

Last climb of the day. Gotta save something for getting out. Good.

Got it down to one rest. Reachy and strong.

Not sure why I top roped. Was feeling a bit nervous for some reason. After dogging it up on lead I did 3 more laps, 2 of them back to back, all of them clean. Only on the last lap did it occur to me that yes… I’m an idiot… you could have led this in your sleep. And now I’ve blown the chance of sending this. At least it was stress free. (In hindsight, I’d been glutened and immune system was slowly crashing. Spent the last week in Leo sick. Maybe next time…)

There’s an easy way, an awkward way and a hard way… second time I found the easy way.

Guessing at the grade but seems about the same as the other 2 long routes we’ve done. Really good!

Juggy and super pumpy as a warm up. So good!

Last climb of the day. Not quite as full of jugs as Scott was telling me.

Heartbreaker finish for the slightly shorter. Ruined the onsight thinking I could dyno. I’m much better at monos…

Fun, juggy and pumpy.

Hard to judge as I hadn’t slept. One hard move. From that one hard move it’s on all the way to the first anchor. Cool interesting moves and lots of different styles. Even managed a full sit down at one point.

Delicate and balancey but scary at the crux, mainly as that section of rock is crumbly and feels like it’s all going to break off. Well bolted. Guessing at the grade but similar feel to Pick and Roll… with the added bonus of ‘will the rock break off in my hand/foot??’.

So good! So epic!! Closer to 40m!!!

First climb of the day. Tufa heaven!!

Better than it looks. Harder finish than a 5c+ though. It may have had a lower anchor at one stage.

I’m guessing at the grade but once you’ve pushed through the forest, a fun technical face leads to a funky little rooflet.

Almost a heartbreak ending… but it wasn’t 😁. Also so good and so epic!
