Ascents in The Alcove as Onsight

Harder than some of the 23s Hard start and gets gradually easier

Hard to judge the difficulty but the bottom is a pretty nails boulder but the second half is pretty cruisy.

On my limit but just tried hard and it went

Lovely through the roof, pretty average in the middle and surprisingly hard at the top

Good warm up for the area

Under-rated and unappreciated, this is as good as any other the nearby routes

A decent addition to the area, with good moves up high.

Actually not bad, would make for a decent warm up.

Finished up Dog’s Life rather than the grotty corner, as I didn’t have any trad gear. I normally wouldn’t say this, but really should be fully bolted, given the quality of the rock and the nature of Britten as a sport crag.

Climbed to clean Nor’ West Arch. Pretty crap, but the sit down rest in the ledge midway is novel.

Very poor rock quality, awkward moves.

Somehow this route had escaped my attention until now. Mucho guano, but great jug hauling through the upper roof.

Surprisingly decent.

Pretty good, for Britten anyway.

Had to fight for this one at the end of the day. Nearly blew it at the top but managed to mantle out as my hands pried themselves open.

Juggy and fun, but a wee bit awkward.

Excellent warm up for the Alcove - steep and juggy.
