Ascents in Oceania by Kyla

My first ever multipitch, and my favorite day of climbing to date! I love how much climbing you get in a day of multi-pitching. Not to mention the crazy good views and fun exposure! Wooo!

Pete lead the first two pitches with some mad long run out (definite ground fall potential on the first pitch). At the end of the second pitch short on time we decided to retreat to avoid climbing over some wet slimy rock. Still got some good views and fun in tho!

Had a blast top roping after nathans sick as trad send! Was the first time climbing with a backpack on wooo! Was a real struggle haha, so fun!

My first attempt at a trad lead! (only building up enough courage to try because of Pete placing a billion pieces of gear for me). I got through the crux move after wasting 10 minutes on the wall trying to commit to the smeary feet. I grabbed the next jug hand only to fall off 5 seconds later loosing all semblance of good climbing form cause of my tired arms. I am majorly stoked to have trusted the gear enough to fall on it. Although I didn't get the send I am proud of doing all the moves none the less. Had a blast and am keen to do more trad now!

I got scared on the last move to the mega-jug on the flash go but sent it second go! Was lots of fun! Stoked with the red point.

second go cause I always wig out on mantles in sport climbs! was nice climbing but very cold and windy day. hands were very numb ahaha.

Tried this to see what a grade 20 feels like. great holds and movement. Got freaked early on at the fourth draw with the overhang and not feeling strong enough to clip on most of the climb, so just went draw to draw to work on my fear of heights. Was too scared to even try the last move. But I hope to come back and send it one day, when I am stronger!

I was defintely concerned about the runout at the start two bolts haha. But I was on good enough holds to keep going. I am not very confident lead climbing so was glad to have put the draws up and onsighted it despite being scared!

Was v fun, and with great company too! Woot woot!

Tried to lead but got pretty scared of falling so just went draw to draw. It went real flowy when I opted for a tight-as top rope belay to calm my nerves. I hope to one day send this bomber route on lead!

was chill, but I didn't like the movement as much as the 17 next to it.

nice climbing! there's a fun little slot just under the crux section that I used as for a crimpy finger jam thing. really enjoyed it!

Was a having a particularly off day dealing with fear so just took it slow on top rope testing the moves and taking a bunch of rests on the rope. I enjoyed the moves and hope to come back and lead it one day!

A fun variation to do is a stretched sit start on the big rail to the right and topping out with the V0 line.

Was fun! I felt awkward on the climb but loved the body positioning and footwork element of the moves!

Fun, did a whale flop mantle cause I suck at trusting feet hehe. Whale are damn cool tho.

Was good! trusting a high foot for the mantle was entertaining! The sit start felt very soft and not like a V3, more like a V1 or V2.

First V4! wooopadywoo! I looooved the movement of it and am stoked to get the send. I especially loved the process of projecting. I ended up getting it in just two sessions (but in probably over 10 attemps hehe)

First V5! Wooo! I had heaps of fun playing round with the beta. I ended up using some toe hook spice on the start side pull that helped me reach to the crimp on the arete. Big cheers to Michael for not letting me bail when I freaked on the slab top out. Theres actually a solid chunk of a crystal thats a bomber right foot that feels insecure till you commit to it.

Start is funky but the rest is average.
