Ascents in Great Falls having Beta

We did loads of variations on this wall from one top rope anchor. Cold day made better with the bros and and some hot tea. I recommend the other side of the river this time of year!

Got stuck midway, serious bitch of a climb. Felt good getting past it though.

Very hard to figure out where this route goes.

It seems like it should be so easy, and yet I keep slipping while reaching for the good holds in that upper crack on the arete. Argh!

Extremely tricky problem to work out if you're short! The "short person" variation is rated 5.10+ in the Great Falls guide book.

Hard for its grade, I would say. Not necessarily the best place to take a first-time climber.

Very short but I really like it. The chimney is huge! Not too many climbs of this type so it's worth setting it up every once in a while.

Still haven't found a way to reach the holds on the 5.8 version! :p

Very close to clean, but I slipped on the wet lichen! Oops.

Almost had it clean. I slipped on the second-to-last move! Nice climb.

I set some gear in the undercling/traverse, which is basically obligatory to prevent crazy swinging that could drag the rope over the sharp flake repeatedly.

My personal favorite climb at Great Falls. The layback on the flaring crack just feels so good!

Lots of variations. Fun to play around with different routes up the face.

So close to clean...but I inevitably slip at this one spot right before the slopers start.

Fun tricky slab climbing.

If I recall, this is the climb that often has sticker bushes on it, so you may want to check that out before going to the trouble of setting it up.

Nice layback move to start

The 5.9 variation (straight up the roof) is easier for short climbers.

Did the right start for the first time.

Climbed it using mostly feet, by keeping my hands below my shoulders at all times. Fun!
