Vie in Cumbria

One of the first routes visible on the approach, following the rib up the face in an enjoyable alpine-style climb. The first pitch starts just up and right on the lonely ash tree following a leftward trending crack.

Classic ridge climbing in an excellent setting. Starts behind Napes Needle and provides excellent views back to the iconic climb and the Wasdale Valley. Route follows the path of least resistance up the slightly polished face and continues up the ridge belaying at the many grassy ledges.

Start at the large pine tree. Impressive corner reached after 5m. Trend left to top.

P1 21m 4b, Start on right, go up to wedged flake, follow faint crack up to right and move around corner to huge block below o/h. Belay on right. P2 25m, 4c. up cnr to roof with crack on left. Move past roof using holds on left wall. Move up and left onto slab, climb to groove on right of slight o/h. Up a couple of metres and step left awkwardly and move up arete to large ledge/ the terrace. P3 12m, 4b from top of terrace climb climb the left edge of the right bounding wall, detour right to avoid steepening.
