Pitch 3: Confused by the earlier fixed rope and not totally confident we were headed in the right direction, we were very pleased when I came across an old carrot in the left of the chimney. I’d probably only made it 10-15m out of the cave, but we decided this would be a good place to reassess our heading and incorporate a confidence-boosting bolt into the belay.
Pitch 4: Flipping the rope, I led again. From the bolt I climbed a few metres up the slab to the left before making my way back into the chimney. About 20 meters above the belay and now out to the right of the chimney, I stopped on an arete and made my anchor. 5 meters up a bouldery looking roof glared down upon me and I honourably decided that Daygin could tackle that section of rock.
