Ascents of Receptive Orifices

Tried to see if I could still do this. Turns out it’s still quite a hard move. Got the slot but felt nearly impossible to bring the feet up. I remembered that there was a left hand push to help but it didn’t seem to help today.

This is hard. I understand the moves now, but not feeling they will go together anytime soon!

Back on with Callum. All about getting a super good right hand in the slot for me. Came off on a red point burn lowered then got it straight away “pink point”. Rad line

Finally went on the third burn today! stooooooked

Really just two or three technical cruxy moves to this line, not much else. Still a good time for the quarry though

sooo close! Made some slight adjustments to my beta through the crux and now it feels even closer.

Surely next session is the session!

With beta dialled on TR, this went butter smooth first go. A tough couple of moves with a much easier start and run out to the chains. Found this slightly easier than Mercey just for it being less sustained.

First go today, shoes with a proper edge made a big difference!

Extremely satisfying to have this go from oh-my-bloody-hell-what to totally goes in just the one sesh!

Nice mix of thin balancey moves, some hip flexibility and a couple of big pops!

Gave it a TR burn and suss out the clipping stances. Confident to give this a lead now.

Stoked this went lead!! Clipped the ring bolt on stairs then almost forgot to clip the first bolt of RO proper when moving up. Got back on track and powered to the top. Run out felt fine. Very technical beta. The hold breakage at the start of the crux makes for a really good foot actually.

Worked on TF and fell on my first try today. Second go it went clean which is rad.

Some tough moves going up.

Loose block after crux is still sketch and the hold I broke last time still feels like it has more to break. Time to find the clipping stances.

Surprised that I got this so quickly too.

Quirkie sequence and a painful hold.

Worked on TR. Got all the moves clean. Not sure if sticking a foot out right is considered offline once gaining the good holds past the crux.

Also broke off a large hand hold near the bottom of the crux. Heard it crack off when matched on it then pulled it clean off and cleaned. There is now an additional small crimp here which can be used as a footer. The low right hand side pull is now much smaller though. I suspect that this hold has more room to break which result in the right hand side pull becoming worse.

Fun climb overall and should go clean soon. The clips look spicy.
