Super fun classic ngungun ledgey pocketed climbing. We scrambled up the gully. Thought it could be nice if there is an anchor here for the belayer. The next 35m are a hidden gem - easier and shorter than icehouse but just as featured and fun. Very achievable lead for a max 16 lead climber. Don't bother with bringing gear there's no placements. The runout is comfortable, if a bit exposed. As with the warning, the left bolt of the top anchor is loose, it's still okay but in need of an upgrade. The carabiner master point is rusted so we built our own anchor, and rapped through two of the upper links. To descend the gully we chucked the rope around the tree and down climbed with a prussik around the rope juuuuuust in case. Easily became one of my favourites in the area, especially with the added adventure.

Nice, great view from up there. Make sure you take some slings for the trees on the first pitch, as well as some cams to set up the first anchor at the end of the first pitch. Bring two 60m+ ropes so you can rappel all the way down from the second pitch.

Really enjoyed this climb. It's a lot better than people think. Did it all as one pitch this time.

This climb might see more traffic if it had a bolted belay station at the top of pitch 1, thus making pitch 2 a true sport route. Anyway, you can put a number 8 nut and a smallish cam in and make a belay from that, but I doubt many sport climbers could be bothered with that. Fair enough. Alternatively, just view this as a 1 pitch climb, but with 15m of easy climbing at the start with 2 or 3 trees to sling as protection before you encounter the first bolt. Take two ropes (60m ropes will suffice, but a 50m rope will come up short if you're doing it as one pitch) to join together for the rap down. I noticed someone had left a bailing mallion on the first hanger of pitch 2. My guess is they only took one rope, probably a 70m, and that's as far down as they managed to rap. Then they must have pulled the rope and rapped from that 1 bolt the rest of the way to the ground - yikes! Surprisingly enjoyable climbing, from an era when "sport" routes were a little more exciting, with bolts only placed on the harder sections, hence the run-outs on the easier sections. That headwall on the upper section looks like it would take a few more routes - it's just a shame about having to access that section via the pitch 1 scramble gully. I was intending to tighten the nuts on the anchor (the right hand nut can be undone by hand!) but unfortunately forgot to take my spanner with me. Next time...

Well worth the scramble up the gully. There is a large runout in the middle of the pitch that can probably be protected with wires, though I didn't bring any and it felt fine. I also checked the anchors and the bolts seemed tight to me. The fixed locker was a bit corroded, but that's not really surprising around these parts.

Needs a rap station at the top of the first pitch. Second pitch is really fun climbing for the grade.

Loved the top of pitch 2. Run out seems unnecessary in the middle. Chris led pitch one

This is seriously great. The runout is no joke (maybe 8m?) but the climbing isn't hard. Get on this!

Basically free solo scramble on first pitch to a trad anchor (if you want it) before second pitch. Leading the second pitch was probably the most fun I've ever had climbing. Great views, easy climbing, few run outs to challenge the head.

The second pitch is magic and on its own it is a classic, but the first pitch is pretty ordinary. The run outs might freak out new leaders. Could be done with only a set of slings to protect the first pitch (there is no gear other than the trees anyway), just clip the first bolt on P2 and stay attached to the tree to belay.

With Matt W, went up without knowing what it was, to lazy to get the guide out. Very nice but runout (approx 10m) between 3rd and 4th bolt.
