Ascents in Middle Cove by Brendon Flanagan

Nice little dyno start, then on to easy slab. Dropped from the anchors and broke my ankle. Gravity sucks and so does a poor belay.

Nice dyno up to the bollard then a few nice opportunities for a rock over.

Even on second it's still an excellent first few moves.

Love the start to this climb.

A brilliant, technical, balancy route with the challenge being to not use the sides.

Top roped this route a few times with today being my first attempt on lead. Finished it but not clean. A work in progress!

My head torch died half way through the climb so relied upon the moonlight to illuminate the holds and lack of footers at the crux.

Find the correct footer at the crux and it's a 16. If you don't then you can up it a grade. Did it at night with my head torch making it more of a challenge

Watch the smearing when straddling the nose! Took some decent bark off my right shin the first time I did this climb!P

An easy send to the overhang then a high feel around for the hidden holds. Brilliantly climb!

Thin edge of the crack is solid and great to layback on. Whatever you do don't use the ring bolts on the adjacent climb to send the route

A challenging route for its grade. Once you get up to the overhang try your best to balance and trend left. Another excellent beginners trad route.

A great beginners trad lead. Plenty of crack to place cams or hexes all while laying back along the crack.

The climbs name says it all. Quite the balance act while crimping away at what's available. A reachy slap for the mantle making the finish worth while!

Getting onto the problem is easy yet oh so fun! The traverse offers some well hidden holds for your fingers to slide into along with the use of the waist high underclings. Rounding the bulge offers some worthy footwork challenge to where the crux reveals itself. I can lower myself part way but how to hold it and continue the lower traverse to the end????? So far....EXCELLENT! Possible V4.

An amazing arête with solid jugs all the way to the top. Leaning back, test your holds, weight them and send the rock. You'll loose your spotter once you start the vertical but they can still put the pad beneath you. after watching GChris FA it I used the beta and finally finished it! Exciting problem for the grade it sits at.

Hmmmm, easy enough to get to the bulge but how am I going to get over it? My right foots in a position under the bulge that won't allow me to get over the top. Problem solving time.

I haven't even FA'd this traverse yet and I've already given it a star! Balancy, trusting and highly satisfying.

Trying to figure out how to switch my hands around to make my way up to the arête. Tricky!

Ranger Dave what can I say! Your best pieve of work yet! EXTREMELY thought provoking! Limited footers with acceptable crimpers with a touch of balance added for good measures. I give this star a well deserved 1 star! I hope for everyone elses sake you offically mark it with a star. Brilliant my friend, simply brilliant!

A brilliant climb with an amazing overhang. The undercling makes the overhang a little easier to get through. Naturally I threw an expected (and predicted) heel hook in. Not the way Ranger Dave did it but hey, I couldn't resist my favourite part of my arsenal. can't wait for this one to be on lead!

Not worth the effort of setting up the natural anchor. Certainly not an 11 either. More like a 15.
