Approach

All current crags at the cliffs above Kamari village share the same approach and parking area. From Masouri/Myrties, take the main road towards Pothia and drive up the serpentines. At the col (36.98628, 26.93459), turn left into Kamari village. After 200 m and a sharp righthand turn (36.98487, 26.93540), turn left again and follow the small uphill road for about 400m, until the road ends in front of big gate.

Park at the designated parking area in front of the gate (36.98570, 26.93818). Make sure to keep enough space for cars to pass through.

Walking from Myrties: On foot, there is a shortcut to Kamari. At the end of Myrties, just when the main road takes a sharp righthand turn leading up the serpentines (36.98820, 26.93404), walk left into the road that passes above Myrties. After about 100 m, a small trail leads up on the left. You will end up on the main road, just before the last turn into Kamari.

From the parking area, walk through the small side gate, designated for climbers (close behind you!). Walk up the last bit of the road and pass through another small gate at your left (close again!). The first part of the approach trail is shared by all sectors. To 'Symplegades', split right after a few minutes and walk up into the obvious canyon. To the other sectors, continue further left, first passing 'Ourania' and 'Mystery'. After crossing the small gorge, 'Hump Piste' and 'Pyramid' are located at the small cliffs on the other side.

Ethic inherited from Kalymnos

  • PREPARE to leave nothing behind (trashbag, etc).
  • Use your own gear for toproping. Use fixed gear only for lowering. (See first section of guidebook for details.)
  • Minimize single-use plastic. No recycling on the island (yet).
  • Use established paths and close gates behind you.
  • Consider a donation to the rescue team (red boxes).
