Breeze Bay Guide

A Crag Guide gives an extensive view of all sub areas and climbs at a point in the index. It shows a snapshot of the index heirachy, up to 300 climbs (or areas) on a single web page. It shows selected comments climbers have made on a recently submitted ascent.

At a minor crag level this should be suitable for printing and taking with you on a climbing trip as an adjunct to your guidebook.

This guide was generated anonymously. Login to show your logged ascents against each route.

description

There has been a lot of rockfall in the area above the Crater Rim track above the crag, after the 13 June 2011 earthquake. Many large boulders are balanced precariously here and could be dislodged by weather or further aftershocks. Visiting this area is therefore not recommended.

summary

A new crag in Breeze Bay.

description

The routes go approximately half way up the cliff. Best on a dry day as the damp white lichen makes for some insecure climbing.

access issues

There has been a lot of rockfall in the area above the Crater Rim track above the crag, after the 13 June 2011 earthquake. Many large boulders are balanced precariously here and could be dislodged by weather or further aftershocks. Extreme caution is advised.

approach

Park at Breezes Col, take the Godley Head track, 100 meters after the stile angle down hill across the slope to the end of the crag. Then contour under the cliff face and you'll arrive at the routes.
