Excellent splitter offwidth into a wider layback. We tried it a couple of weeks ago but had no idea how to do hand/fist stacks nor knee locks, nor did we have gear big enough to make the wide second half a sane prospect. This time, after reading the 'hand/fist offwidth' section of Peter Whittaker's 'Crack Climbing', having bought back my two Valley Giants (VG) I'd previously sold, plus judicious taping of hands and left knee I was set and got it first go. Gear is big to humungous - #4, 2 x #5, #6, VG#9 and VG#12! A 240cm sling is also handy to loop the large block 3/4 way up. As granite goes, this is smooth sided and an excellent climb to learn offwidthing on. A top rope using a second rope to get the anchor over the edge can easily be setup using the ring bolts above 'Black Satin Lingerie'. The walk in is about 40 minutes.

my goodness, this is pretty cool but i just dont like going above an umbrellaed #6 cam, for 3m or so. with a bigbro or something id have a bit more confidence to give it a proper shot.

Needs more stars! Definitely worth doing, even if you only come here for the 20/24. Some awesome jams in either crack having to navigate through the roof then a little bit of offwidthy stuff at the top. Awesome!

put some work into it. did every move and made a good link on toprope from the 3rd draw to the end. really crimpy and techy, surprisingly not too bad on the skin.

First time placing gear in about 10 years, felt great to re learn the skill. Had a decent onsight attempt but muddled up the top crux sequence. Found a flow moment second shot and climbed it smoothly. Incredible movement with some technical movement. Thanks for the day out Ryan.

A brilliant route providing plum vertical stamina crack climbing. Had to fight for it. A bit of laybacking, fingerlocks, hand jams etc. Some really good wire and cam placements, I didn't use anything larger than Gold, and sure wish I'd taken a few more small cams. The bush in the photo was burnt and dead and has been mostly removed making for a more aesthetic and cleaner route. Also gave it a quick brush.

Glad I toproped it as there are some sizable audible exofoliation flakes which could cause concern to place gear on. Otherwise, a good range of knee locks, hand/fist stacks, butterfly jams and fisting.

Sandbagged! Cheers to Jordan for wanting to 'warm up' on this one. Surely hasn't been climbed since the FA, had to do lots and lots of gardening, chockstone roof pulling and lichen scraping! Nearing the top (harder than 12) I was in a crack/slab when I notice I had to pass a LARGE dead tree limb hanging on the edge of the slab, I went to move it to the side and it fully weighted on my arm, with one hand jammed in a crack and the other holding a tree I was yelling to Jordan to watch out in case this behemoth of a branch came down. I let go and it got caught on a granite pebble on the slab, relieved I kept climbing but still had to somehow navigate the branch. As I climbed a way above my last cam my helmet knocked the branch and I again caught it with my hand, this time it was coming down. I yelled at Jordan to let him know to hug the wall and watch out. I let the branch go and it hit the ground with a resounding bang and split into a million pieces, luckily we were both OK, what an adventure. Thrutchfest
