Ascents in Launceston (Cataract) Gorge

Not as nice as the RH route and a little contrived at the start.

pitch one for our adventure, falsley assumed an FA of a grade 15 crack.

This is worthy of your time...but it is not 19. I am putting it down as 22 especially on lead as the gear at the top is thin. Saying this though, quite a route that packs a punch!!

Unreal. Proper fridge hugging on smear feet at grade 19 is about as unlikely as it gets. Excitingly bolted as well.

Well worth the effort of finding this hidden gem of a crag.

The unonsightable gorge climb! possibly because I had heard about every move on this climb for the last few months, followed the line of least resistance and managed to not have to do much climbing before the 3rd bolt? Cool moves at the top. Ran another lap afterwards and stayed on the main face it was pleasant, a touch soft at 19 if taking into account the other 19's in the gorge probably way harder for those shorter than myself. However bleak this might sound, The Great Willy is well bolted and a worthy addition to the moderate sport climbing in Launceston!

Tricky onsight. Almost blew it trying to fiddle gear in. Very engaging for such a short route.

Quite a cool problem short but worthwhile thoroughly enjoyed it. Great lower off top job, perfect for my belayer to have a quick top rope turn.

I think being told you can not onsite it, makes you really want to. First lead climb in 7 years!

These Two routes share a few holds and stances, but climb quite independently. The 4th bolt is a little terrifying. Best to either have a very long draw on it or do the pop/dyno to the jug before clipping the bolt. If you come off the very strenuous stance to clip this bolt you will most likely deck.

Very strange move at the bolt which feels ridiculously hard until you do it and then you think it was easy??? Pleasant to the top.

Somehow didn't know this existed. Nice enough route right off the track. Some awkward and thrutchy sections with some loose rock and moss

Very enjoyable climbing. Seems easier than 19 based on Gorge grading.

Nothin to write home about, but at least the gear is interesting (and bomber)
