Ascents in Southern Tablelands as sport by Nicolas Di Campli

Blew it attempting to clip second last bolt off a shit crimp instead of moving up to the jug.

Went smoothly, fantastic balance slab on slopers and amazing crimps.

Solid moves to get off the ground, then defeated by a cryptic crux - high throw seems to be the go. Possible to do by going right into the sandpit, but unpleasant.

Rpt, still fun with some cool moves at the first overhang.

First lead attempt, got up to third bolt - felt so much easier this time, smooth and flowy. Move to the gastons was spicier on lead, took some time to figure out!

Repeat, absolutely lovely warm-up for the head and the hands.

Repeat, best easy route at the crag? Low crux, then you're off, with a cool corner and overhang to top it off.

So stoked. Just gotta go for it, almost blew it on the mantle but held it together.

Great climb - P2 now has an optional boulder problem to start below the bolt due to breaking holds (V2, very fun!), but you can scramble up left to avoid. Great little final overhang, some broken footers make it quite tricky - went up the left on some nice crimps.

Surprised myself with this - lead would be a very different... Great climbing on some very thin holds!

Not sure if first-climb-of-the-day or just shit but slab baffled me.

Decided to repeat this in better style as the last climb of the day - bit pumpy, but it went.

Got the first move this time, which means everything up to the roof is possible.

Pulled on a draw in the blank corner to avoid a potential fall onto a new belayer - balancey moves through that section. Rate this highly.

Fun - went left at the bulge and used a nice sidepull.

Kept peeling off the start position, but felt close to getting it. Then managed to get to bolt #3 before I ran out of power and it all became too much. Keen to try it again, potential long term project?

Couldn't find a stable clip point after the big move - heel hook was too bunched. Top-roped after to figure it out.

When in doubt, just go for the next hold. Went smoothly.

Meant to do Alpine, and think I ended up doing it's crux before accidently ending up on this?

Soooo long and so fun - just keeps going, long enough to make your feet hurt. Also thought it was a 15 (Mt Alex is pretty confusing tbh), which led to some interesting moments mid-climb.

Went full trad and tried to follow the crack to the very top - maybe 19/20? Much easier if you remember it's a sport climb and escape the top of the crack to a jug on the right.

Great friction slabbing

First two pitches have a lot of broken holds and the climbing isn't great apart from the crack on P1. P3 and P4 make up for it, with consistently great climbing on interesting terrain.

Found the middle bit thinnnnn but the climbing is good throughout

Loved it even more this time around - lovely stuff and amazing views. Dad was frothing.

First pitch gave me a proper spanking - eventually worked it out but climbing is a different beast out here it seems. Seconded the second pitch clean, then led the exit via final pitch of Gripping Yarn.

Good introduction to Mt Gibraltar and the slabs - decently varied, sequencey, yet beginner friendly. Linked P1+2 as well as P4+5
