Ascents in Statham's Quarry having Beta

Both Sam and I gave this a crack, and were both totally puzzled to how to reach the second fixed hanger passed the crux for Hammer and Tongs. Has something fallen off? New guide book says to climb more to the left, perhaps using holds on HAT at a grade of 24, but this does not make sense as the bolts are off to the right, and it seems like the line.

Probably a 28+ Apparently some holds have come off. No longer a 26 Looks rad though.

Good protection to be had, interesting climbing, nice tense little roof sequence to finish.

Good pro, good climbing, it even has a good belay stance

Still lots of loose rock around, had to explore the roof a little to be sure gear placements were possible

Real sustained climbing, take rests where you can.

Seemed difficult today

A nice trad practice route, tolerably well protected with a mix of small and medium nuts and cams.

Was climbing at about 80% strength due an ill timed gym workout. Reckon I'll have this next time.

sustained slight overhang and long. nice for Pa Perth Quarry. A bit chossy towards the top, be careful of loose rock.

nice exposure, especially on a windy day

Stayed left. Committing throw. Thankfully not long enough to get the dread flash pump.

Gets a bit weird near the end.Used smeary beta which increased nipple grinding fall potential ~23%.

Good warm-up.Feet for days and minimal nipple grinding fall potential.

Lost the flash like a stinking idiot. It was dark and I had no glasses on. Cool route though

Onsighted 99.99% of the route. First moved gaining slab is a doozy. Pretty straight forward after that.

Really fun, scarier than expected, pumpy.

Short, but easy to protect with big, chunky gear. Good route to build up some trad leading confidence.

Short, harder than 16 at the bottom, way easier than 16 at the top, not a lot going for it.

Red pointed all the way to last bolt and still couldn't do that last heartbreaker move

Not just trad anymore, 2 rings and 2 bolts to loweroffs so take a couple of bolt plates. Runout at the top, but the climbing there is secure.

Thin through the middle section. Ok warm up.

Could not get to the Anchors! Onsighted most of the route. This route is challenging, mentally and physically. Committing moves can end in big falls, but the route is well bolted and very safe. Will be back to work out the final mantel moves up to the anchors. Very hard, but good for the grade.

Committing moves up top. Certainly more difficult than I expected.

Came back and got the red point after a horrendously dogged first try.

Sustained up to the crux.

Good holds until the end, which was a stretched out move off small edges.

Prior comments referring to a one move wonder pretty much say it all. Still a great feeling to get the top though.

Had some rather odd/difficult moves in it. Might feel better when im stronger.

I like this climb

Warm down. Went way too far right, it got a little blank, started wondering how it was a 16 and screwed a foot placement. Turns out the boulder on the left is in, then it was a 16 again. whoops! Good slab practice for the uninitiated.

Took a bit, but figured out the beta. Will be back with more time next time.
