Ascents in East as Onsight

I wasn't expecting much from myself but after climbing clean through the steep crack start and keeping calm on the thin/funky face I found myself under the roof resting for the finally boulder. With a scream that would have made Ondra proud I topped the route :0 Happy days..

Only the 1st 3 pitches (too wet today for a big multi) Similar to Black Fire (maybe a bit less fragile) but with utterly abysmal bolting. Climbed P1 and P2 as a giant 60m pitch. Rob then moved the belay to the end of the easy P1, and I continued up P3 (to make another 60m pitch) before rapping. P1 is a slightly loose, super runout access doddle. P2 is a rather hard, technical slab. P3 is an enjoyable steep roof wander. I broke a hold off P3 2m off belay on easy ground and fell back to the belay

Tried hard. Maybe the low end of 26 but pretty stoked!

Can I really claim the first part of the real route? Onsighted up to these anchors though, and the style really switches gears above.

Not too bad a route. Took the last of my skin so couldn't try the reason

Now this was a long fight, and hard work for a warmup. A long, wandery adventure. I used a #2 and #1 cam, but could also take a #0.75 and #3 if you dont like runouts. Only a short crux section, but lots of techy thin moves throughout that would be easy to mess up. The rightward traverse below the roof is a real chinese puzzle in itself. Quite stance-friendly. I totally bogged down below the final roof for a good 20min before suddenly unlocking it and scoring the onsight. Stoked!

Soft at 25 but rad climbing!

The start is rad and the corner is a cool feature. The top face is crusty and a bit meh though.

I went to the top of the cliff and needed around 21 draws (I ran out).

Highly recommend finishing at the midway Supernaut anchor.

Loved the style, totally unique.

Great intro to Bare Rock

The best sport route I've done. Engaging and powerful start, technical corner climbing and the most orgasmic slab to finish. Heaven on a stick

Pitch 1 only. Was definitely holding onto Bits of rock that don’t get much use. Was hard at Rooflet. Pretty nice slab.

First pitch only. Good technical stabbing, with enough stances to allow for reading the route. 70m rope with belayer on ground get climber back to the belay on the low ledge.

Super enjoyable climbing, and quite mentally engaging to the 2nd bolt.

Following the obvious line right of 2nd bolt isn’t 25. Actually lowered down afterwards to try it direct - harder, and stupidly contrived.

So tasty and sustained! Better than Heaven can wait.

Just pitch one, epic long slab and quite tricky to read

Sensational sport climbing on granite. Doesn't get any better than this.

Long Long and wicked fun. As far as a warm up goes I was pretty pumped at the top after a well fought fight. The mix of trad and bolts keeps you on your toes the whole way with many thought provoking sections and sick moves.

Haha how good is this route! Hardest part is making upwards progress.

Unerringly sustained from the very first move to the last. Slightly-steep, technical thin face-climbing with a wide variety of moves. I was on this for a long time fighting for the onsight, and it was worth every second. Classic!

Up and down climbed the starting moves several times before I committed to some super hard cranking (for short people). The hard climbing is over pretty quickly but the traverse keeps you fighting and the sustained seemingly endless face climbing to the anchors keeps you focussed. Climbed this in super strong winds and slight rain. Awesome route in stellar location.

Stoked! The best of the climbs on Supernaut face. A full grade harder than Supernaut, and 1/2 grade harder than Into the Void. Very sustained all the way to the top. Bouldery start, then some technical thiness, to a desparate roof-turn, to more technical, wandery thinness, to a steep water-polished technical bridging finale up an overhanging V-groove, with a final easy (but exposed) roof to turn. Memorable! Might be nails 24 for the ultimate dialed red-point attempt, but 25 for onsight.

End of day lash to the interim belay (3 bolts from the top anchors) on the big ledge just below the crux. I decided not to tackle the infamously nails crux today, and lowered off from here. Extremely technical, insecure face climbing on immaculate, slippery rock, with a few rooflets to negotiate. Quite enjoyable so far...
