Nice varied climbing... Watch out for the two dodgy bolts with 2cm of exposed threads on the third pitch.

The huge, eye-catching flake at the start will draw you in (bring big cams, or run it out on dicy pro - big props to Bec for taking the second option). After that, it's slab with a bit of a dumb walk up a vegetated ramp. The fourth pitch is surprisingly good. Glad we did it, never coming back.

The first, second and fourth pitches make this a good slab route, the third and the topout prevent it from being very good. Pitch one, the starting flake with big layback and reachy traverse was the highlight. Take a couple of large cams for it!

Pro tip: try not to misread the topo and take only small gear. Flake at the start is a wide one.

Pitch 1 Dylan lead - size 5 plus cam in crack, size 3 above flake. Row of bolts to left of first cave very obvious. Don’t get drawn by bolts below cave onto Dinosaur. Pitch 2 Robbo Lead - dumb bushes on ledge and moss bombs Pitch 3 Dylan lead - slabby start with no holds, big move to jug. Only 4 bolts to belay in runnel. Pitch 4 Robbo lead - follow up runnel to uncomfy anchor. 7 bolts.

Rap out from third belay possible to ground with 60m ropes. Careful if less than 50m and trying to reach bolted belay visible from start (15m to right of obvious runnel).

Glad we did it, probably won’t be back.

Great climb, felt classic to me. Starts off feeling very real and gets more and more fun as you get higher. We climbed in the afternoon and the shade + howling wind froze us. 🥶

Got spanked on my flash attempt. The 2 cruxes took a few whips before sticking. Phsyched to give this another burn.

Nice warm up

Tried to do this a few years ago, but without any big cams. Had to bail then. Came back with big cams and had a much better time. 3rd pitch is great.

Absolutely loved first pitch. Second pitch was great with 15m run outs on trad.

Led first two pitches.

Great exposure

Unlike the route diagram, the route traverses steadily up to the right from the top of the flake on the 1st pitch. Don't go straight up (this is Dinosaur Jnr). Also it would be nice to have 2 hangers rather than 1 to belay on, at the top of the 2nd pitch! No natural gear backup possibilities.

Really enjoyed this one. Good gear in the flake at the bottom.

Really nice climb. Not as hard as the other 17s at Eaglestone Rock. Good pro at the bottom.

It's ok.

Cruisy. Nice big ridges for feet, small mantle at top to reach dbb a few metres from edge. Salve to the ego after aborted attempt on next-door Fear the Smear.

Loved this, mainly due to the committing start on trad — I had no small cams, so placed only a small nut and got a bit scared, but damn that was a good placement, took me ages to get it out later!

Need to get used to trust my feet
